A beautiful fall day in Vermont is even better on two wheels!

Our sixth graders took their bikes off campus for a fall ride, putting their biking skills into practice and enjoying the fresh air and beautiful scenery along the way.

The ride is part of a bike unit with Local Motion, which brings a trailer full of bikes and helmets to schools. Students learn proper bike handling, practice their riding skills, build confidence, and learn the rules of the road and how to ride safely.

By the time they head out for a trip like this, they’ve had time to practice and put those skills to use.

Learning to ride safely opens up so many opportunities for students to explore, stay active, and enjoy the outdoors.

We’re lucky to live in such a beautiful part of Vermont, and it’s wonderful to see our students out there enjoying it together!

The longest active high school volleyball winning streak in the nation has come to an end.

OUR STUDENTS ARE TAKING THE LEAD!

On Monday, October 19th, 7th- and 8th-grade students at St Albans City School will serve as moderators for a public candidate forum.

The students have been learning about voting and civic engagement in social studies, and now they’re putting that learning into action. They developed the questions, will ask the candidates themselves, and are preparing to lead the evening.

This is a great opportunity to come out and support our students as they learn what it means to be engaged in their community.

The forum will feature Vermont State House candidates Representative Jack Bigham, Representative Joe Luneau, Suzy Kenyon, and Zach Scheffler, as well as U.S. House candidate Gerald Malloy.

We hope you’ll join us and show these students that their voices and their work matter!

ST. ALBANS — St. Albans’ next generation of leaders saw community engagement in action last week during BFA-St. Albans’ first “Student Leadership Community Day.”

Cars, tractors, and corn kernels. What are our kindergarten students learning?

As they scoop, push, fill, dump, and move their vehicles through the kernels, students are building fine motor skills, exploring early math concepts, and figuring out how things work.

There’s research behind this kind of play, too. The National Association for the Education of Young Children identifies play as an important part of learning for children through age 8, supporting problem-solving, language, social skills, and self-regulation.

It’s hands-on learning that gives students the chance to explore, try new ideas, and learn by doing.

And yes, they’re having fun along the way!

Saint Albans City School is getting a bath, and one of our own is back to help!

Cooper Cioffi, a 2015 St Albans City School graduate and 2019 Bellows Free Academy graduate, is back with Gene Depot Pressure Washers to give the school exterior a much-needed cleaning.

It’s always nice to see former students back in our schools, this time helping take care of the place where it all started!

Meet The Voice Cracks, St. Albans Town Educational Center's eighth-grade after-school rock band! They're auditioning for Sonic Futures' Battle of the Bands at Harwood at the end of the month, and they're bringing the energy with Kelly Clarkson's Since U Been Gone.

On Thursday, October 8th, our Northwest Career & Technical Center students headed Vermont State University Randolph Campus for the annual Vermont Works for Women Women Can Do conference.

Students had the chance to try hands-on activities, meet people working in different fields, and learn about careers in the skilled trades, technology, engineering, and other industries.

It's a great opportunity to explore new interests, learn new skills, and see what career options are out there.

We're glad our NCTC students had the chance to be part of the day!
