Matching koa six and 9 string Parr Mules. Even the necks are koa. A fun part of using koa is how the figure explodes when finish goes on. So if it already looks this insaneā¦
If you want wood like this for your Parr Mule we can get it.

from our trip around Scotland last week. I got to try the ceramic slides heās making on a wheel and they are ridiculously good. Besides having the most amazing finish Iāve ever seen and sounding huge, because they are made by hand on a wheel the irregular inside makes them fit really well - the most important part of picking a slide. Heās going to start doing drops of them on davidandthedevil.com so head that way on get on his email list. I wouldnāt be posting this if they werenāt ridiculously good. Trust me, they are ridiculously good.

Meeting of the Scottish Mule Clan at Stirling castle.
met us there in full Mule Tartan kilt glory. Nam holds the distinction of having the most Mule tattoos (yes there are plenty more tatted Mule teamers)
Nam also holds the distinction of being an absolutely wonderful human. Iāve met him twice now but it feels like 200. Heās one of those guys whose selflessness makes you relax like youāre talking to a high school buddy. Heās a coach and a brother in iron. He talks passionately about his family. And he always shows up with scotch. I recorded a video with him to show his goodness to the rest of the mule team but made a tragic mistake on day three and deleted a memory card. A great excuse to come back.
The people Iāve met inspire me and remind me of the wonderful humans there are in a time when the negative ones get all the press. Nam is a powerful force of good in the world.

Spent the day yesterday with the fine folks at in particular John and Jaimie. Mules are going to start rolling into āthe saloonā next month.
Historically Iāve not used dealers. But after a couple conversations with John, hearing him say thoughts I share, and hearing about his shops reputation from my peers, not only did I have to get guitars over there for the ever-growing UK Mule contingent but I had to go there myself. After meeting with my new friend (as of last week ) and recording him signing one of the most beautiful songs ever, I was whisked away from Heathrow by the Mule Security Detail , and and when we walked into Peach we all had our mouths open. āI heard it was great⦠but⦠wowā Finding like minded humans in the world through this work is a great joy and itās a privilege to part of other peopleās stories.
Dave and I are headed to Newcastle and then Edinburgh to pick up and then on to Skye.

Mules, and other tricone or biscuit resonators, arenāt dobros. These are dobro strings. Using them can damage your guitar.
They say āresonatorā on the package but they are 16 gauge strings and too heavy for standard guitar tuning and open D. A āresonatorā is anything with a cone in it. A dobro is a resonator but it has a large cast aluminum bridge that transfers most of the string tension to the wooden sound well. Tricones and biscuit resonators donāt have this and the string tension is supported by the thin cones. This is the problem. Yes you can use heavy strings if you tune down to open C.
If you call any resonator you see a dobro itās not a big deal, but if youāre a string manufacturer the label on the packaging needs to be correct. This isnāt a call out of any particular brands - because almost every brand does it. These are just the ones I found when I searched for resonator strings.

The mighty has christened the SSH mulecaster a thing. That guitar has been outside in New Orleans heat and humidity for five days, in air conditioned hotels, and back out into the heat and he took it off our display and played it. First clip is some nastiness with the single coil neck pickup and the second is the mini humbucker bridge. The clean tone from the neck was the diamond though, videos to come. We also did a Mule Bus Stop this morning before the show, more of that to come too.
