Yesterday, five seniors competed in the statewide ASCLS-MI certification mock exam in Mt. Pleasant.

Today, eight members of the graduating cohort are networking, attending technical sessions, and sharing their passion for the field at the ASCLS-MI Chapter annual conference along with Professor Alvey.

SVSU Board Grants Tenures, Awards Honorary Degree

The Saginaw Valley State University Board of Control granted tenure to 7 faculty members during the Board’s regular meeting Monday, Feb. 16. Those receiving tenure, effective July 1, are:

--Margot Alvey, medical laboratory science
--Emily LaRocque, nursing
--Kevin Lorentz, political science
--Joshua Mike, mathematical science
--Ashley Sanders, social work
--JoAnne West, teacher education
--Colin Wood, music

The Board also granted an honorary degree to Doug Ford, the premier of Ontario, in recognition of his efforts to build partnerships between Michigan and the Canadian province. Ford will serve as SVSU’s commencement speaker in May.

SVSU's Soccer Community Youth Day is this SATURDAY (March 22nd) from 12:00pm-1:00pm.

We are also having our Meijer Bike Giveaway! We will be giving away two kids bike's (one boys, one girls).

Our camp will take place in the Ryder Center Fieldhouse. For your convenience, please park in Lot E, and enter through the first floor Fieldhouse doors.

The Science and Mathematics Extravaganza for Kids (SMEKplus) summer camps involve area students, in engaging, age-appropriate science, technology, engineering and mathematics enrichment activities. Students participating in this 3-day camp will experience hands-on, project-based lessons taught by area certified teachers and assisted by SVSU undergraduates aspiring to become teachers, as well as enjoy lunch in the Marketplace at Doan.

Registration deadline is June 7, 2025, but seats are limited for each camp, so register early!

Early Bird Registration through March 31, 2025, save $5! Regular prices of $150 resume April 1, 2025.

SATURDAY SHOUTOUT - Six students from SVSU’s moot court program, ranked No. 9 in the nation, traveled to the University of Houston Law Center for the American Moot Court Association’s preliminary rounds of the national tournament (PRONT) January 10-11. By the end of the tournament, one SVSU team had advanced to the final round of the national tournament, which will be held at Texas Tech University School of Law on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14 and 15. Congratulations to Nikolas Baker, a political science major from Standish, and Diva Patel, a biology and political science major from Kawkawlin, and to all our Cardinals who qualified to complete (see link below for full details).
