On November 3, Saginaw County voters will consider renewing the Career and Technical Education (CTE) millage that helps make hands-on, career-focused learning opportunities available to students across Saginaw County.

For Freeland Community School District students, CTE expands learning beyond the traditional classroom by providing opportunities to explore careers, develop real-world skills, and gain hands-on experience while still in high school.

Superintendent Marcus Hillbord shares how CTE programs and the Saginaw Career Complex complement the opportunities available at Freeland and help students explore different pathways as they prepare for their next steps after graduation.

Did you know? Funding generated through Saginaw County’s voter-approved CTE millage is restricted funding. That means these dollars can only be used to support career and technical education—not general operations or unrelated ISD expenses.

Hands-on experience in high school can open doors long after graduation.

On November 3, Saginaw County voters will consider renewing the Career and Technical Education (CTE) millage that helps make hands-on learning opportunities available to students across Saginaw County.

Frankenmuth High School graduate Madison experienced those opportunities through the Engineering program at the Saginaw Career Complex, where she designed, built, tested, and problem-solved while developing skills she could carry beyond high school.

Her CTE experience also opened the door to a work-based learning opportunity with Hemlock Semiconductor and helped prepare her for her next step at Kettering University.

On November 3, Saginaw County voters will consider renewing the Career and Technical Education (CTE) millage that helps students gain hands-on experience, industry credentials, and a head start on their futures.
Swan Valley High School graduate Gannon Sova experienced that impact firsthand through the Law & Public Safety program at the Saginaw Career Complex. Gannon shared that CTE empowered him to graduate feeling steps ahead of his peers, with certifications, additional education, and real-world experience connected to the career he wanted to pursue.
For Gannon, the CTE millage helped make those opportunities possible and gave him a head start toward pursuing his dreams.

For students like Ryan Hanania, that opportunity is helping turn passion into possibility. Through the Culinary Arts program at the Saginaw Career Complex, Ryan is gaining real-world experience, developing job-ready skills, and building confidence for life beyond high school.
