My Story

My grandmother was a church pianist and organist. She found a piano left in one of their rentals which she gave to my family when I was 11. My parents paid for my sister and I to take lessons and I fell in love with the piano, would practice and play for hours a day. When I was 18, I took my first student and have been teaching ever since.

In my younger years I taught choir class in private schools and taught private voice lessons. However, I never stopped teaching piano and it was private lessons I chose to continue teaching as my full-time career.

My teachings include writing & playing major and minor scales, technique, theory, and even a bit of some blues writing. I teach various forms of music from a variety of books to round-out each student’s playing to include Spanish, jazz & blues, folk, classical, pop, movie and Broadway themes, and Christmas.
