Our Cross Country team raced at Delta College on Saturday - with two-thirds of the team setting new PRs or season-best times!

Sergio Medina led the way for the boys, finishing 5th overall with a new PR of 11:46 - the 2nd fastest time in our record books. Landen Roenicke, Everett Jennings, Easton Dupuis, and Logan Mersdorf rounded out the Vikings' top 5.

Four boys set new PRs: Sergio Medina, Landon Roenicke, Easton Dupuis, and Zane Reichle, while Logan Mersdorf and Jack Provenzano ran their season-best times.

For the ladies, Mara Whelton led the ladies with a 5th place finish and a new PR of 13:04 - the 2nd fastest all time for Swan Valley. Ava Rodriguez, Lennon Klepsch, Amelia Espinoza, and Miranda Culwell finished as the Vikings' top 5.

Five ladies set new PRs: Mara Whelton, Ava Rodriguez, Miranda Culwell, Halle Dilts, and Reina Zaitona. Lennon Klepsch, Amelia Espinoza, Hannah Geyer, Jayla Johnson, and Elaina Velasco also ran their season-best times.

Our 8th-grade science students had a STEM-filled day! Half of each class visited Delta College’s STEM Explorer Bus and rotated through welding, CAD machining, coding, microscopes, circuits, 3D printing, chemistry, and more—even meeting robots that photographed them and drew them as future STEM professionals! Meanwhile, the other half built circuits in the classroom. We can’t wait for the groups to switch and continue the STEM fun Monday!!!

Today’s moon phase lab in 8th grade Science was looking pretty sweet! 🌙🍪 Students modeled each phase with OREOs—and thankfully, the “evidence” was edible!
You could say this lab was totally lit… just like the Moon! 🤷‍♀️ 🌘 🌗 🌖

Our SVMS XC team competed at Stratford Woods in Midland on Saturday.

The boys finished 3rd out of 13 teams thanks to strong racing from all runners. Sergio M. led the way, finishing 4th with a medal and a new PR. Everett J. and Landen R. also earned medals, with Logan M. and Easton D. rounding out the Vikings' top 5.

The ladies finished 5th out of 13 teams - led by Mara W. with a strong 2nd place finish and a medal. Natalie H., Alaina O., Ava R., and Lily S. joined Mara as the Vikings' top 5. An amazing 7 runners set new PRs: Alaina O , Lily S., Miranda C., Sophia J., Reina Z., Taylor G., and Emmalyne M.

SVMS Cross Country:

Our runners opened their season last night in Shepherd. It was a great race overall, with lots of standout performances and strong finishes.

Our 8th graders led the charge at the front of the pack, with Sergio M. finishing 6th overall for the boys and Mara W. finishing 3rd overall for the girls. Everett J. also earned a medal with a top 25 finish in the large-school division.

Shout out to all our runners who ran fast, set PRs, and represented SVMS well on the course!

MS Girls Hoops !
The Viking 7th Grade girls played a typical first Middle School game with plenty to improve on, however they did defeat the Hemlock Huskies 46-7. McKenzie Christopher led the way with 16 pts, Ainsley Ball cleaned the glass all night with 12 rebounds, and Macie Korzecki was aggressive on defense totalling 5 steals!
The 8th grade girls basketball team played a physical game and unfortunately lost to Hemlock 32-33. The girls did really well rebounding and playing tough defense.
Top players were Ava Howe and Kennedy Felsing.
