The Hive was absolutely buzzing tonight!
Here’s the final totals 😂:
🌭 We served more than 200 hot dogs and sliders. Joey Chestnut would be proud!
📚 Students checked out hundreds of library books to keep the reading going.
🍪 Fresh Batch Cookies sold more than 300 delicious homemade cookies!
Most importantly, we had the chance to reconnect with so many amazing Hornet families. Seeing students laughing, playing, reading, and catching up with friends reminded us just how special this school community is.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out tonight and helped make it such a fun evening. The countdown to the first day of school is officially on, and we can’t wait to welcome all of our Hornets back to The Hive!
I didn’t get many pictures because the line for the grill was going strong all night long.

There were some BIG smiles at the Hive today! 💙❤️
Mrs. Moeller and Ms. Lewis invited their kindergarten students, now first graders, back to school for a special summer reunion with Albert Applesauce and Chester Cheesecake to celebrate their birthdays!
The students loved spending time with Albert and Chester, catching up with friends, and enjoying the playground together. It was so much fun seeing how excited they were to be back at the Hive.
We can’t wait to welcome all of our Hornets back very soon!

The Hemmeter Gardens are alive and thriving! 🌱🌼
This summer, we once again partnered with some incredibly talented local artists to create new garden signs and the most adorable gnome homes for our Fairy Gnome Garden.
But these little homes are more than just decorations—they’re actually insect watering stations! By adding gravel to the saucers, we’ve created safe landing spots where bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects can stop for a drink without the risk of drowning. 🐝🦋
We also recently harvested the hardneck garlic that our students helped plant last fall! It’s now drying and will be paired with the tomatillos, tomatoes, and peppers from our salsa garden to make homemade roasted salsa verde and salsa roja as part of our annual tomato program with our fifth graders.
Our warm-season vegetables have been a little slow to get going this year, but the growing season is far from over—and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer brings! 🍅🫑🌿

Throwback Thursday!
Last year, our entire school embraced the Olympic spirit during our Olympic Learning Celebration, and what an unforgettable experience it was!
We transformed the Hive into an Olympic wonderland, took the entire school ice skating, learned hockey skills from Saginaw Spirit coach Chris Lazary, and were inspired by former Olympian—and Hemmeter mom—Mickie Knous. Throughout the Games, every classroom connected their learning to the Olympics through engaging projects, challenges, and activities that brought history, geography, science, math, literacy, and teamwork to life.
Looking back at these photos reminds us of the excitement that filled our halls and the memories we created together.
Some school experiences become core memories, and this was definitely one our Hornets will never forget. ❤️💙
