We want our community to be aware of a deeply concerning scam that has recently targeted families in our area.

Scammers are calling families claiming to be from a drug cartel and stating that a child has been abducted. In some cases, the caller may use AI-generated audio to mimic a child’s voice to heighten panic.

These calls are intended to manipulate families into revealing personal information or making payments.

Parents and guardians are advised not to engage with or return these calls, and to avoid sharing any sensitive information with the caller. Hang up immediately and report the call to local law enforcement. Please realize you can always call your child's school to verify if they are in school.

We are in partnership and communication with our local law enforcement concerning this matter.
