We love, bless, + build bridges with one another through the power of communication. And we strengthen our bonds with our communities through learning how to communicate in each other’s mother tongues. Welcome to our classroom, friends. • Many of our ESL students are from Brazil, el Caribe, Mexico, + all throughout Latin America. Because a lot of us who come from other countries and now live in the US want to gain access to different spaces, we learn English as a tool (& many times as a means of survival). A lot of our Spanish-learning students are second (or third) generation latinx, US born, and/or community activists seeking to better communicate, “convivir”, + deeply connect with their Latinx friends, families + compañer@s de lucha. • It’s a complex thing to work our way through the different barriers that have long existed throughout generations of struggles that have divided our people. As conscious nepantleras/bridges, we work through these complex histories + recognize the importance of making space for each other in ways that allow every being to feel included + thoroughly cared for. • These are just a few of the students from our Seeds of Peace School of Languages that we’ve been serving.
