Alpha & Omega Learning Center

Alpha & Omega Learning Center Alpha & Omega is a faith based early childhood education center providing quality care to children of all ages in a loving and nurturing environment.

Alpha & Omega Learning Center was founded on and remains devoted to, the ideal that a happy child is one who is given respect as a unique human being and is allowed to fulfill his or her needs to play, investigate and be him/herself. A happy child is more open to learning than a child who is unhappy, tense, or fearful. We consider is our responsibility to foster each child’s capacity for learning,

to help him or her grow morally, spiritually, emotionally, physically and intellectually. We believe in individualizing each child’s school experience to whatever extent is possible for the fullest development of his or her potential. It is our belief that school should be interesting and even exciting. We believe that each child’s work and behavior should be evaluated in terms of his or her own inherent capacity rather than through comparison with others. Cooperation is more valuable than competition. Our goal is to provide a relaxed, but stimulating, atmosphere where each child feels acceptance and encouragement in the achievement of success through the exercise of responsible choices. We promise to provide the very best in Early Childhood Education as well as introducing your child to the love that is expressed in the Bible. License # C052776

Building independence doesn’t mean children have to do everything on their own — it means giving them opportunities to try, practice, problem-solve, and build confidence! 💛

Simple everyday routines can teach some BIG skills.

🏠 At Home, Encourage Your Child To:

* 👕 Practice getting dressed and undressed
* 👟 Put on and take off their own shoes
* 🧸 Clean up toys when they’re finished
* 🥤 Open containers and manage their belongings
* 🧺 Help with simple household jobs
* 🚽 Practice independent bathroom routines
* 🎒 Carry and keep track of their own backpack
* 💬 Ask for help when they need it

🏫 At School, We Support Independence By:

We give children opportunities to make choices, clean up after themselves, manage their belongings, practice self-help skills, follow classroom routines, solve age-appropriate problems, and try before immediately stepping in to help.

Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is give them a little extra time to figure it out.

These everyday skills help children build confidence, responsibility, problem-solving skills, and kindergarten readiness. 🎒🍎

💭 Try this at home: Before doing something for your child, ask, “Is this something they could try themselves first?”

Every zipper zipped, backpack carried, spill cleaned up, and toy put away is a little step toward “I can do it!” 💪💙

What is something your child has recently learned to do all by themselves? 👇

Literacy Tip: Play "I Spy" Storybook Hunt! 🔍📚

What to do: Open up a favorite picture book and play a round of "I Spy" with the illustrations! Ask your toddler to find items on the page using colors, shapes, or initial letter sounds ("I spy with my little eye something red!" or "I spy something that starts with the /b/ sound like ball!").

How this builds big skills:
🤝 ENGAGE: Captures your child's attention and keeps storytime active and interactive.
💡 INSPIRE: Sparks curiosity about how pictures connect to words and story meaning.
🚀 ELEVATE: Builds foundational print awareness, vocabulary, and early phonics skills that pave the way for reading readiness!

💡 Parent Pro-Tip: Let your toddler take a turn being the spy, too! Giving them control over the game builds confidence and excitement around books. 💛

Our VPK students were busy learning through hands-on sensory play! 💛🔤 Activities like this allow children to explore, create, and learn while strengthening important skills like letter recognition, fine motor development, problem-solving, and working together with friends.

In VPK, learning doesn’t always look like sitting with a pencil and paper — sometimes it looks like digging, discovering, talking, and PLAYING! 🌟 Because when children are engaged and having fun, meaningful learning is happening. ❤️

✏️Parent Tip Wednesday🍎

Learning ABCs and 123s is important, but so is learning how to handle big feelings, solve problems, communicate, and be a good friend.

Social-emotional skills take time to develop, and children learn them through everyday experiences both at school and at home.

🏫 How we support SEL at school:
✨ Helping children name and understand their emotions
✨ Encouraging them to use words to communicate their wants and needs
✨ Modeling kindness, empathy & respect
✨ Teaching children how to work through disagreements with friends
✨ Practicing sharing, taking turns & working together
✨ Encouraging independence and problem-solving
✨ Reminding children that mistakes are opportunities to learn

🏡 How you can support SEL at home:
❤️ Talk openly about feelings — “You look frustrated. What happened?”
❤️ Help your child put emotions into words instead of immediately fixing the problem for them
❤️ Give them small opportunities to make choices and be independent
❤️ Practice taking turns and losing/winning appropriately during family games
❤️ Read books together and talk about how the characters may be feeling
❤️ Praise the skill, not just the outcome — “I noticed you kept trying even when that was hard!”

One of the best things we can do is give children the chance to practice these skills. They won’t always get it right — and that’s okay! Every disagreement, big feeling, mistake, and problem is another opportunity for us to teach them what to do next. 🌱

💬 Families, what social-emotional skill are you working on most at home right now?
Sharing? Independence? Using words? Managing big feelings? Making friends? Tell us below! 👇🏼💛

💛 This is SO important for ALL ages & stages!

Learning to identify and name our feelings is such an important skill for little ones. But it doesn’t stop at knowing “I’m mad,” “I’m sad,” or “I’m frustrated.” We also want children to learn how to navigate those big feelings and express them in safe, appropriate ways.

Social-emotional skills are a BIG part of kindergarten readiness, too! ✏️🍎 Being able to communicate needs, manage emotions, work through frustration, solve problems, and interact with others helps set children up for success in the classroom.

At Alpha & Omega, we work on these skills every day through conversations, modeling, problem-solving, play, and helping children put words to what they’re feeling. 💙

And these are skills that continue developing at every age and stage — even for us grown-ups! 😉🌈

Navigating "big feelings" is a crucial part of early childhood development. When we teach children how to recognize, label, and process their emotions, we give them tools that serve them for a lifetime. 🧠✨

3 Core Skills to Build at Home:
🔹 Identify & Label: Turn big emotions into manageable concepts by giving them names.

🔹 Validate & Guide: Remind them that all feelings are okay, even if certain behaviors (like hitting) are not.

🔹 Pause & Calm: Practice calm-down strategies—like starfish breathing or taking a movement break—during low-stress, happy moments.

By modeling calm behavior and offering positive reinforcement, parents and caregivers build emotional safety and resilience in young children.

A new school year means new opportunities to learn, explore, and GROW! 🌱❤️

Learning doesn’t only happen at a table! We love giving our friends opportunities to strengthen their gross motor skills through play — running, jumping, climbing, balancing, reaching, and moving their bodies while having FUN! 🫧🏃‍♀️☀️

All of that play helps build coordination, balance, strength, confidence, and so much more! 💪✨

🫧 Families, we want to hear from you!
What is your child’s favorite gross motor activity? Are they a runner, climber, jumper, dancer, ball-kicker, or something else? 🤸‍♀️⚽️🛝
