A few weeks ago, our interns got to be part of something big! A few of them attended, even helped setup for the Further Together Event in Sacramento. This event was built by agents, for agents, featuring some of the best in the business. What an incredible learning experience to be behind the scenes of an event like this! 🙌

Montell’s intern spent time at an open house with one of his agents. This is what makes our internship so valuable. Interns gain experience from multiple professionals across the industry, and mentors don’t carry the full teaching load solo. It’s a win-win. 🙌

Mentor Marisol is out here doing the work and bringing her intern along for all of it. 😄 Teaching him how to prepare for a listing presentation and showing him that prospecting can happen anywhere, including the flea market.

This is exactly the kind of real world experience the SAR Internship Program is built around.

Meet Sal 👋

Salvador Cortez came from the insurance world before diving into real estate and lending, and now he specializes in helping first-time homebuyers navigate the process without all the confusion. His focus? Alternative financing, investing, education, and transparency, so there are zero surprises at the closing table. He's passionate about helping families build generational wealth, one deal at a time.

Five facts about him you might not know:

1. He's a Raider fan. Yes, he chose chaos. And he's loyal about it. 🏴‍☠️

2. At one point, he had 7 mini schnauzers. SEVEN. That's not a household, that's a schnauzer empire.

3. He graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, so yeah, he can calculate your DTI and probably fix your car.

4. He got married on Leap Year, which means he only has to remember his anniversary every four years. Genius or lucky? Both.

5. He still holds his insurance license from a previous life, because once a problem solver, always a problem solver.

Thank you, Sal, for your dedication to this program!

Our interns got a masterclass in Commercial Real Estate today with Breeze! Beyond his regular mentoring duties, he carved out time to teach. We’re lucky to have him!

Mentor a SAR intern and become the person you needed when you started. Also, enjoy answering questions like "Wait… what's escrow again?" with your full chest. 😄 Because someone out there is learning this business for the first time and they need a real one in their corner. You get to share what you know, watch someone grow, and honestly feel really good about it.

This is what mentorship looks like in real life. 😄 SAR mentors Nancy Jenson, Marisol, and past mentor MayMay, with Intern, at the NHORA seminar doing what they do best!

This program attracts some of the best people and we are so grateful for all of them.

Meet Amy ✋

Amy is the Vice Chair of the Internship Committee, Board Member of the Charitable Foundation, and a past committee member of the Preferred Partner Committee! She's been in the real estate industry for the past 10 years as an advisor and marketing strategist. For the past six years, she's run her own company, Jane Rothe Real Estate Marketing. Now she's channeling that expertise into building our intern program!

Five things you might not know about Amy:

1. Her company is named after her late grandmother, Jane Rothe (Rothe was her maiden name, Swayne was her married name)

2. She's known for wearing bright colors 💕

3. She does NOT make her bed in the morning (and she's fine with that)

4. She will 100% judge you if you don't return your shopping cart properly 🛒

5. She was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2019, Endometriosis in 2024, and ADHD in 2025—all surprisingly (and unfortunately) correlated. But her ADHD diagnosis has been the most profound because now so much of her past life makes sense
