For Tashyla, her why is her daughter. As a teen mom, she made the decision to continue her education, earn her diploma, and lead by example for the person who matters most.

Like Tashyla, many adult learners have a story behind why they chose to return to school. They are parents, workers, and community members who are ready for another opportunity to reach their goals and build a better future for themselves and their families.

At Highlands, we believe adult learners deserve that opportunity.

As we look toward bringing the California Learning Academy (CALA) to Sutter County, we invite our community to hear the stories behind the students we serve—and to stand with us in creating more opportunities for adult learners.

This reflects a year of serious work to strengthen systems, improve oversight, raise standards, and better serve students.

Highlands Forward is about building a stronger, more accountable, more student-centered future – and continuing to move forward with integrity, standards, and care.
