Aquaponics display by Sacramento State is up for viewing at the California State Fair Farm. Students are using the display to educate the public about sustainable alternative methods for producing food. Key notes to aquaponics is water efficiency, rapid plant growth, produces protein alongside plants, and can be done anywhere without the need for soil.
Come visit the Aquaponics education display at the State Fair, where the fish are the stars!

You have the opportunity to intern with Erik Powell in Loomis this summer. Erik runs a large commercial aquaponics farm, and recently has taken the management position over Del Oro High Schools aquaponic greenhouse. You will intern at both sites, gaining extensive knowledge pertaining to greenhouse management, as well as managing aquaponic systems. Aquaponics is a fast growing agricultural model as California's drought, and the organic/foodie movement forces the industry toward sustainable, local, organic methods.
Contact Erik if you wish to intern with him this summer. Internship hours are flexible.
