Congratulations to Folsom Lake College Professor of Native American Studies Dr. Tami Cheshire, who has been named a Chancellor's Climate Fellow by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office. She will serve in the program's community engagement focus area for climate change education.
Dr. Cheshire has played a leading role in FLC's wetland revitalization efforts, collaborating with faculty, students, and Tribal partners to reintroduce California Native plants, remove invasive species, and explore ways to incorporate Traditional Ecological Knowledge into campus sustainability initiatives. She has also expanded Native student success efforts and organized community-centered environmental justice programming while advocating for respectful, reciprocal partnerships with California Tribal Nations.
As a Climate Fellow, Dr. Cheshire will work to strengthen community engagement, advance climate education, and support equitable and sustainable futures for communities throughout California. Congratulations to Dr. Cheshire on this well-deserved recognition!
