On January 12, 2013, an interest event was held in Old Town Sacramento to gauge the interest in the creation of a UCMAA chapter in the area.
The Greater Sacramento Valley Chapter of the UC Merced Alumni Association was formed to organize UCMAA Members to facilitate networking with UC Merced Alumni, Students, Faculty, and Staff to support and represent UC Merced in the Sacramento Region. The Chapter was founded by the UCMAA Board of Directors on April 13, 2013. The main purpose of this chapter is to represent UC Merced in the Sacramento

: Brooklynn Pham ‘09, will serve as UCMAA board president effective July 1, 2020. Pham, the association’s first female president, is the third to take the helm since the board’s inception, following Uday Bali ‘08, and Keith Ellis ‘12 who served in the role since 2014.
Joining Pham will be Jo-Anne Rodriguez ‘09 as board vice president, and Randell Rueda ‘11 continuing for a second consecutive term as board secretary.
