Today during circle time, the children explored the different parts of a tree using our wooden tree puzzle and matching tree book. Together, we carefully “dissected” the tree by removing and rebuilding each piece — trunk, branches, and leaves — while talking about how all the parts work together to help a tree grow strong and healthy. 🌳

This hands-on activity encouraged problem-solving, visual discrimination, and fine motor development as the children manipulated the puzzle pieces and matched them back into place. We also practiced new vocabulary such as roots, trunk, branches, and leaves while strengthening observation skills and early science concepts through meaningful conversation and exploration.

The children were so engaged as they worked together to discover how each part connects to create the whole tree!

🌱 This Week in Our Classroom: Growing Like a Seed

This week, we explored the beautiful process of how plants grow by reading Seed Work. The children learned that all plants begin as tiny seeds and, with the help of sunlight, water, and care, grow into something amazing.

To bring this learning to life, the children created their own flower artwork using tissue paper and glue. This was a process-focused activity, allowing each child to explore, create, and express themselves in their own unique way while strengthening fine motor skills.

As we created, we talked about how growth takes time—not just for plants, but for us too. We connected this idea to our own lives, discussing how we grow with love, patience, and practice.

You can support this learning at home by:
🌼 Looking for flowers or plants in your neighborhood
🌱 Talking about what plants need to grow
💧 Letting your child help water plants or gardens

We love watching your children grow each day—just like our little seeds 🌿💛

📚 This Week’s Focus: Letter Work (Montessori-Inspired)

This week, we are exploring early literacy through our Letter Work book, inspired by Montessori principles. Children are being introduced to letters in a hands-on, engaging way, connecting each letter to familiar objects and sounds (like o for octopus and b for bus).

Rather than memorization, our focus is on recognition, sound awareness, and connection. Through repetition, visuals, and conversation, children begin to understand that letters have meaning and are all around us.

✨ What we’re supporting:

* Letter recognition
* Beginning sound awareness
* Vocabulary development
* Focus and observation skills

💡 At home connection:
You can support this learning by pointing out letters in your environment (on signs, books, or packaging) and talking about the sounds they make. Keep it playful and natural, learning happens best through everyday moments!

We love watching the children build confidence as they begin to recognize letters and make connections to their world. 💛

Today we read Little Nature: Hatch by Pau Morgan. The children were excited to peek inside the egg and guess what might hatch!

After reading, we had a group discussion about different animals that come from eggs—like birds, reptiles, and even some insects. The children shared their ideas and made connections to animals they already know.

To extend our learning, the children created their own drawings of something that hatches from an egg. It was wonderful to see their creativity and unique ideas come to life! This activity supported language development, imagination, and early science concepts in a fun and meaningful way.

✨ The Importance of “Job Time” in Our Montessori Classroom ✨

During our day, you may hear your child talk about “job time.” In a Montessori environment, “jobs” are purposeful, hands-on activities that support your child’s natural curiosity and development.

Job time is one of the most important parts of our day because it allows children to choose their own work, follow their interests, and build independence. Whether they are pouring, sorting, building, or exploring early math and language materials, each job is carefully designed to support growth across multiple areas.

Why it matters:
• 🌱 Builds Independence: Children learn to make choices, complete tasks, and care for their environment.
• 🧠 Develops Concentration: Repeating meaningful work helps strengthen focus and attention span.
• 💪 Supports Fine Motor Skills: Activities like pouring, spooning, and transferring strengthen little hands.
• ❤️ Encourages Confidence: Completing a job gives children a sense of pride and capability.
• 🤝 Promotes Responsibility: Children learn to clean up, return materials, and respect shared space.

Most importantly, job time allows children to learn at their own pace, fostering a lifelong love of learning.

You can support this at home by offering simple “jobs” like helping set the table, pouring water, or tidying toys—these everyday moments build the same skills we nurture in the classroom!

🎨 Free Art Friday – Painting!

Today we explored the joy of painting freely—no rules, no right or wrong, just creativity in action! We paired our art time with calming, relaxing music to create a peaceful and inspiring environment.

Free painting gives children the chance to:
• Express their thoughts and emotions
• Strengthen fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
• Build confidence and independence
• Practice decision-making and problem-solving
• Experience creativity as a joyful, open-ended process

Watching their ideas come to life on paper is always magical. We love seeing the colors, brush strokes, and imagination flow! 💛
