Ignatius Parish School has served the families of St. Ignatius Parish and the surrounding community. The Pre-School - 8th grade school flourishes with a qualified and dedicated lay faculty, a policy-making school board, and the presence of the Jesuit fathers. Ignatius Parish School provides spiritual formation as the integral connection to the academic, social, emotional, and physical development

of the whole child. Through opportunities of service and reflection, we encourage our children to respond to the invitation of St. Ignatius of Loyola to find God in all things, live for the greater glory of God, and live the Magis as they become young men and women for others. To fulfill our mission of nurturing the soul and faith life of the children of our school community, St. Ignatius School provides liturgical services, retreats, sacrament preparation, formation, and service opportunities.

Please join us in giving a warm St. Ignatius welcome to Mrs. Kelli Albers, our new first grade teacher!

A Sacramento native and graduate of Catholic schools herself, Mrs. Albers brings nearly 20 years of experience in education to SI. She earned her B.A. in Liberal Studies and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Sacramento State and has served as a Director of Education at Sylvan Learning Center, a Resource Teacher at St. Francis Elementary, a third grade classroom teacher, and most recently, a student teacher supervisor at Sacramento State.

Mrs. Albers is passionate about helping young learners build confidence, discover the joy of learning, and grow as their whole selves. As a mom of two, she also knows firsthand the importance of a strong school community and has enjoyed being actively involved in her own children’s educational experiences.

We are so excited to welcome Mrs. Albers to the St. Ignatius family! Her experience, warmth, and dedication to Catholic education will be a wonderful addition to our faculty and our first grade classrooms.

Welcome to SI, Mrs. Albers! We’re so glad you’re here!

Making a Splash into Their Final Year!

Our 8th graders kicked off their last year together at SI with a day of fun, laughter, and plenty of time to bond at the Aquatics Center!

As they begin this special final chapter, these students have the chance to celebrate the friendships they’ve built, make new memories, and strengthen the community they’ve shared throughout their years at St. Ignatius.

Here’s to making the most of every moment of their 8th grade year, Tigers! We can’t wait to see where this year takes you.

Virtue of the Month: Attentive

Being attentive means noticing others, listening with care, and being present for the people around us. Our Buddy Program is a beautiful way to put this virtue into action.

Our 5th graders are paired with our youngest Tigers in TK, giving older students the opportunity to guide, encourage, and inspire their younger buddies — while our youngest students gain a special friend and role model to look up to. They recently attended their first Mass together, and watching these buddy pairs worship side by side was absolutely adorable!

And this isn’t just a one-year connection. These buddy classes will stay together as they grow, all the way until the 5th graders graduate from 8th grade. What begins in TK will become years of friendship, mentorship, and shared memories.

At SI, being attentive means looking beyond ourselves and noticing how we can support, encourage, and care for one another.

We are thrilled to celebrate Alyssa, this year’s recipient of the Carla MacDonald Scholarship!

This scholarship honors the incredible legacy of Carla MacDonald, a beloved SI teacher whose impact on our school community continues to live on. Carla recognized students who brought more than academic excellence to our community — students with a sense of humor, a can-do attitude, and, above all, those who were someone you could count on.

Alyssa embodies these qualities, and we are so proud to see her receive this special recognition.

Congratulations, Alyssa! We are grateful to the MacDonald family for helping Carla’s legacy continue to inspire and recognize the very best of what it means to be an SI Tiger.

We began our school year in a distinctly Jesuit way: gathered together in prayer at our Mass of the Holy Spirit.

A longstanding tradition at Jesuit schools, the Mass of the Holy Spirit invites us to begin the academic year by asking for wisdom, guidance, and inspiration for the journey ahead.

This year’s Mass was led by our 8th grade class and centered on our five schoolwide learning expectations — the qualities we hope to cultivate in every St. Ignatius student: being religious, loving, open to growth, intellectually competent, and committed to doing justice.

What a beautiful reminder that education at St. Ignatius is about more than what we learn. It is about who we are becoming and how we are called to live in service to others.

May the Holy Spirit guide our students, teachers, staff, and families throughout the year ahead.

We gathered as a school community for our first all-school Mass of the year.

Hosted by our faculty and staff, the celebration welcomed Fr. Dennis and included the installation of this year’s Student Council. It was a beautiful celebration of faith, community, and new beginnings as we begin another school year together.

We are grateful for this wonderful start to the year and pray for God’s guidance and blessings throughout the year ahead.

The first day of school is here, and what a joy it was to see our campus come alive again!

Our hallways and classrooms were filled with familiar faces, new beginnings, laughter, excitement, and the unmistakable joy of being together. There is something special about the energy of the first day—and even more special about the community that makes St. Ignatius Parish School feel like home.

Here’s to a wonderful year of learning, growing, serving, and walking together. Welcome back, Tigers!

Help us give a warm St. Ignatius welcome to our new 5th grade homeroom teacher and 5th & 6th grade English Language Arts Teacher, Mrs. Caity McCoy!

Mrs. McCoy is no stranger to the St. Ignatius community. A proud SI alumna and graduate of St. Francis High School, she's excited to return to the place that first inspired her love of learning and teaching.

She earned her B.A. in English from UC Berkeley before completing her teaching credential and M.A. in Education at Loyola Marymount University. With more than a decade of experience teaching English, Mrs. McCoy is passionate about helping students grow as confident readers, writers, and critical thinkers.

Many of our students already know Mrs. McCoy from her time as our 4th grade instructional aide, where she quickly became known for her warmth, enthusiasm, and genuine care for every student. She and her husband, Mike, are also proud St. Ignatius parents, making this community truly feel like home.

We're thrilled to welcome Mrs. McCoy into her new role and can't wait to see the impact she'll make this year. Please join us in welcoming her!

Today we celebrate St. Ignatius Day, the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus and the inspiration behind our Jesuit mission.

St. Ignatius encouraged us to seek God in all things, discern with wisdom, and live our faith through service to others. These values continue to guide our students as they grow in faith, knowledge, and compassion each day.

Happy St. Ignatius Day!
