Major congratulations to studio member Owen Polkinghorn, who will be heading to Bowling Green State University in the Fall to serve as their bassoon studio Graduate Assistant while working on his MM degree!
NEW MEMBER ALERT! Our new bassoon GA, Owen Polkinghorn (he/him), will be attending BGSU in pursuit of a Masters in Bassoon Performance. He graduated in 2022 from Sacramento State University with a Bachelors of Music in Bassoon Performance and a Bachelors of Music in Music Education. Then, in 2023, he received a K-12 Music Education Teaching Credential from Sacramento State University. Owen is originally from Santa Rosa, CA, but has been living in Sacramento, CA for the last 5 years. We are so happy to have Owen join our BGSU Double Reed Family!

Come see the incredible woodwind quintet WindSync perform at the Sacramento State School of Music as part of the New Millennium Concert Series on February 13th! The members, including bassoonist Kara LaMoure, will also be teaching performance classes featuring Sac State students. More details to follow.

Congratulations to credential student Owen Polkinghorn, who played today in a performance class with Steven Braunstein, recently retired contrabassoonist with the San Francisco Symphony! The class was part of the 2023 Meg Quigley Bassoon Symposium (), held at the Fred Fox School of Music at the University of Arizona.

Thanks to Dr. Dorian Antipa for a fantastic performance class yesterday as part of Sacramento State School of Music's annual Festival of New American Music! Everyone came away with lots of things to think about and work on.

Thanks to all the young double reed players who joined us Sunday for our Double Reed Workshop! We worked on fundamentals, talked about practicing and preparing for auditions, covered this year's All-State (and other honor ensemble) audition music, and ended with a giant double reed band. Thanks also to Forrests Music for being there and keeping everyone supplied with reeds, tools, thread, and more. Hope to see everyone again next year!

Catch bassoonist Dorian Antipa and percussionist Mckenzie Langefeld Mckenzie Langefeld peforming tonight at 7pm as DuoXylo at Sac State's Festival of New American Music! The concert itself is free, and will also be livestreamed on the Sacramento State School of Music page.
