We are proud to have Dr. Noren Pan in attendance at this year's Khmer Student Coalition Conference 2013

Dr. Pan has served as President of MicroLink Devices since May 2000. After founding MicroLink Devices, Dr. Pan established Mitsubishi Electric, Agilent Technologies, and GCS as key customers. Dr. Pan led the company to profitability in 2005 and continues to build significant value around MicroLink’s core competence in epitaxial wafer manufacturing for HBTs and solar cells. He is responsible for the development of novel processes and device structures for improvements in microwave and solar cell device performance. His current work centers on the advancement of HBT- and HEMT-based structures for wireless and optical communication applications. Dr. Pan served as chief scientist at Kopin Corporation from 1995-2000. He led the marketing and engineering efforts to develop AlGaAs and InGaP HBT materials for cellular phone applications. Dr. Pan has built more than 10 successful HBT programs worldwide for companies such as Skyworks (formerly Rockwell), Triquint, Anadigics, Mitsubishi Electric, Toshiba, GCS, RFMD, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Agilent Technologies, and Nortel Networks. Most of these programs are still ongoing. The yearly revenue from these programs peaked at $80M in 2000, the year in which Dr. Pan left Kopin to start MicroLink Devices. Dr. Pan was previously a senior scientist at Raytheon Research (1988-1995) where he demonstrated novel high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) and bipolar transistors by the metal organic chemical v***r deposition epitaxial growth technique. He was the first to demonstrate conventional and inverted pseudomorphic AlGaAs/InGaAs/GaAs HEMT by the MOCVD technique. He also pioneered low temperature growth of InAlAs using a combination of arsenic sources which resulted in a record demonstration of an InP based InAlAs/InGaAs HEMT with a current gain cutoff frequency exceeding 200 GHz. He also developed a 2.0 µm wavelength saturable absorber based on InP materials, which resulted in the first 2.0 µm mode locked fiber laser. Dr. Pan is a senior member of IEEE and was inducted to the Chicago Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame in 2007. He earned his Ph.D. in 1988 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has published more than 60 papers.

We are proud to have fashion designer Remy Hou in attendance at this year's Khmer Student Coalition Conference 2013.

Officially launched in 2009, Engineered by Remy has been making its mark among numerous fashion circles.

Honing his talent since the age of 12, Engineered by Remy creator, Remy Hou, learned the skill of sewing from his mother but harnessed the art of design though a journey all-his-own by exploring fabrics, textures, silhouettes and colors. Despite detouring from the formalities of design school, Hou has never stopped learning from the hands on experience he’s been exposed to throughout the years in the bustling Los Angeles fashion circuits and designing clothing for celebs like John Legend, Brian White, Floyd Mayweather and many more. From its humble beginnings in intimate fashion productions and shows to being a featured brand in L.A.’s 2010 Fashion Week and reaching the catwalks of Cambodia in 2011. Marking the designers first visit to his home country of Cambodia since his family fled the tragedies of the Khmer Rouge War over 15 years-ago.
“My parents worked hard to put food on the table, and I worked hard at reaching for any opportunity to further myself from discrimination,” Hou said. “I got my B.S. in Telecommunication Management and a Masters in Business Administration. Fashion wasn’t my passion until I landed a job in Hollywood fixing cell phone networks for actors and actresses such as Tom Cruise, Kim Kardashian, Omar Epps, John Legend, and many more.”
