It is with great respect that we remember graduate Tanya Culliver-Whitlow (2006) who passed away May 9, 2021. Tanya is remembered as a "beautiful soul" whose commitment to the success of her students was a real-life example of our principles/practices of putting students first. Her leadership at UC Davis' College of engineering LEADR program was inspiring and effective. Tanya will be sorely missed by her family, colleagues, friends and her many students. We hope you will all join us in sending our condolences to Tanya's family and friends.

Her family has requested that donations be made to the United Negro College Fund in lieu of flowers.

The MA in Education with a concentration in Higher Education Leadership has been approved to be a stand-alone degree! Now, we are the MA in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies with a concentration in Higher Education Leadership!

Higher education leaders must stay on top of the happenings in our field. Recently, federal Education Secretary Betsy DeVos released her "plan" for higher education. What do you think? Though there's not much detail available (yet), our colleagues at ACE and other professional organizations are commenting. Check it out:

DeVos Outlines a Vision for Higher Education. But the Devil Remains in the Details. The education secretary offered a broad policy blueprint that, for some officials, was welcome after nearly two years with little clear direction. How she will achieve her goals is another matter.
