Early Start Denver Model

At the heart of the ESDM is the empirical knowledge-base of infant-toddler learning and development and the effects of early autism.

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) demonstrate impairments in social reciprocity and communication, as well as a pattern of stereotyped and repetitive behaviors and a restricted repertoire of behavior, with a large proportion exhibiting intellectual disability. As children are diagnosed with ASD at an earlier and earlier age, there is a need for developmentally appropriate interventions

for toddlers with autism and their families. To date the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) is the only comprehensive early behavioral intervention for children as young as twelve months of age with ASD whose effectiveness has been supported through a randomized, controlled trial (Dawson et al., 2010). Enhance your assessment skills with the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition). The UC Davis Mind Institute and ESDM Training Program are offering virtual ADOS-2 introductory and toddler clinical training sessions from September 16 to 18, 2025.
The Introductory Workshop is Sept. 16-17, and the Toddler training is Sept. 18.
Both workshops are designed for many types of professionals like speech-language pathologists, physicians, psychologists, school assessment teams, and occupational therapists with prior background in autism and formal testing.
6 BCBA/CPA CE Credits will be offered for attending both workshops.
