In February at Busy Bee, we celebrated Black History Month with joy, movement, and meaningful learning! We participated in a special dance celebration where they explored music rooted in Black culture and expressed themselves through rhythm and movement. We also held a preschool “march” around our playground, talking about fairness, kindness, and using our voices to make a positive difference.

We’ve had an exciting start to the New Year at Busy Beel! Our buzzing bees have been staying active with fun sports activities that build teamwork and coordination, getting creative with amazing fort-building adventures that spark imagination and problem-solving, and learning all about dental health—how to brush, floss, and keep their smiles bright. We love seeing so much growth happening every day through play-based learning!

What a wonderful fall season we've had! In October, we enjoyed an exciting Fire Station visit, explored autumn fun at our Harvest Festival, and even got to jump in the rain during those cozy weather days. ✨

November brought heart-warming moments as we celebrated Friendsgiving, sharing gratitude, food, and friendship together. Our chef, Elena, even shared with us how to make tortillas, they were delicious! 🧡

We’re so grateful for our Busy Bee families and all the joy your children bring to our community. Here’s to more learning, laughter, and memories ahead! 🍂💛

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month one of our staff, Karen, who also helps make our delicious food, shared a very special part of her culture with the children last week — a performance of traditional Nicaraguan folk dances! We’re so grateful for our amazing team members who share their heritage and talents with our school community. It’s a beautiful reminder of the diversity that makes our classroom family so special!

Busy Bee on L Street was buzzing with activities and events this month! We had an exciting visit from our local fire department. The children got a close-up look at the fire truck, met real-life firefighters, and learned all about fire safety. We also hosted a Teddy Bear Picnic where everyone got to bring their favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal for a day of snacks, stories, and outdoor play!
Here's to more learning and adventures in October! 🍂🎃

What a wonderful summer we've had here at Busy Bee! From puppet shows, lots of painting, to water play days, gymnastics, discovering nature, and enjoying summer crafts — our busy bees had a season full of laughter, curiosity, and creativity. Although we're sad that many of our friends have left for kindergarten, we are so proud of how much our little learners have grown — building friendships, trying new things, and gaining independence each day.
We're looking forward to the fall season and welcoming new Busy Bee families! Make sure to check out all of our upcoming fall events on our website.

Last Friday our BZB teachers participated in a professional development day with guest speaker Lisa Carr. In our morning session we discussed some of the root causes of challenging behavior in children and how we as educators can respond with empathy and support. We also discussed the power of building strong relationships with children as a foundation for a positive classroom environment and experience. In our afternoon session, we switched gears and focused on ourselves. We talked about teacher burnout and focused on how we can set boundaries, practice self care and find moments during our day that bring us joy. We were reminded that taking care of ourselves is not a luxury but that it is a necessity for being the best teachers that we can be.

A Big Thank You to Our Special Guest!

We are so grateful to Christine Shelby for coming today to share the beautiful traditions and meaning of Kwanzaa with our Upstairs and Downstairs Hive classes!

Through storytelling and fun activities, we gained a better understanding of this important celebration of family, culture, and community. We appreciate the time you spent teaching us all about the values of Kwanzaa.

Thank you for inspiring our preschoolers and helping them explore new traditions and cultures! We hope to see you again soon!
