Big news for KLCCSac! 🎉

The Korean Language and Cultural Center of Sacramento - KLCCSac has been awarded a California Arts Council Impact Projects grant! This state program funds collaborations between California artists and their communities, centering art forms rooted in the communities they serve.

Over the next year, we'll be partnering with artist Seonyoung Jeong to bring Korean folk art ( ) to Sacramento in three ways:

🎨 Community Minhwa Workshop – October 2026
A hands-on, 3-hour workshop for 30 community members, painting with hanji, brushes, and natural pigments.

📚 Chaekgado Participatory Art Project – March–May 2027
A 10-session program with our Korean school students, 80 participants creating chaekgado (traditional "scholar's bookshelf" paintings) together.

🖼️ Minhwa Exhibition – September 2027
A free public exhibition showcasing the artwork our community created throughout the year.

이 주 정부 지원 프로그램은 커뮤니티에 기반을 두고 캘리포니아의 아티스트와 지역사회가 함께 협력하는 프로젝트를 지원합니다.
앞으로 1년 동안, 저희는 정선영 민화 작가님과 함께 세 가지 특별한 프로젝트로 새크라멘토 지역에 한국의 전통 민화를 선보일 예정입니다. 🎨🖌️

🎨 1. 커뮤니티 민화 워크숍 (2026년 10월)
30명의 지역 주민들과 함께 한지, 붓, 천연 안료를 사용하여 직접 민화를 그려보는 체험형 워크숍
📚 2. 책가도 참여형 아트 프로젝트 (2027년 3월 ~ 5월)
우리한국학교 학생 80여 명과 함께 민화의 대표적인 그림인 책가도를 완성해가는 10회 과정의 특별 프로그램
🖼️ 3. 민화 전시회 (2027년 9월)
1년 동안 우리 커뮤니티가 정성껏 완성한 작품들을 한자리에 선보이는 공개 전시회

지원단체로 선정되어 우리 문화의 아름다움을 지역사회에 널리 알릴 기회가 생겨 정말 기쁩니다. 앞으로 펼쳐질 민화 프로젝트에 많은 관심과 참여 부탁드립니다! 🚀💙

🎒 새로운 보금자리에서 맞이한 첫 수업 날! ✨

드디어 새 공간에서 우리한국학교의 신나는 가을학기가 시작되었습니다! 🥳🏫
아이들은 한국어로 자기 이름을 예쁘게 적어보고, KLCCSac 로고에 담긴 알록달록한 색깔과 의미도 알아보았어요. 귀여운 타투 스티커까지 붙이며 웃음꽃이 피어난 첫날이었습니다! 🎨 붙이고, 적고, 웃으며 채워갈 이번 학기가 정말 기대됩니다! 🚀💙

What began three years ago as a Korean club of 50 students has grown into the Korean Language and Cultural Center of Sacramento - KLCCSac, now serving 170+ students ages 4–60! 🇰🇷❤️

This past weekend, we celebrated another exciting milestone—the opening of the newest home of Our Korean School! 🎉

We were honored to celebrate with Congressman Kevin Kiley & Chelsee Kiley; Andrew Powers, representing Senator Angelique Ashby; and Christopher Gill, representing Assemblywoman Maggy Krell.

3년 전 50명의 학생으로 시작한 한국어 클럽이 어느덧 4세부터 60세까지 170명 이상의 학생들이 함께하는 새크라멘토 한국언어문화센터(KLCCSac)로 성장했습니다! 🇰🇷❤️

지난 주말, 우리는 '우리한국학교'의 새로운 보금자리를 열며 또 하나의 설레는 이정표를 함께 축하했습니다! 🎉

이 뜻깊은 순간을 함께해 주신 케빈 카일리(Kevin Kiley) 연방 하원의원 내외분, 안젤리크 애시비 주 상원의원 대리 앤드류 파워스(Andrew Powers) 님, 그리고 매기 크렐 주 하원의원 대리 크리스토퍼 길(Christopher Gill) 님께 감사드립니다.

정선영 선생님은 KLCCSac 오픈 이래 매 학기 민화 클래스를 이끌어 오셨을 뿐만 아니라, 여름 썸머캠프 특별활동, 겨울 크리스마스 워크숍, 그리고 지난 학기 Sac State 워크숍까지 우리 문화센터의 든든한 한 축을 담당해 오셨는데요. 🖌️❤️

Since KLCCSac opened, Seonyoung has been a vital pillar of our community, leading weekly Minhwa classes, running popular summer camp workshops, hosting winter holiday events, and even leading a successful workshop at Sac State last semester! 🖌️❤️

🇰🇷 [소식] 대한민국 대통령 샌프란시스코 동포간담회 참석 ✨
지난 주말, 이재명 대통령과 김혜경 여사의 샌프란시스코 방문을 맞아 개최된 동포간담회에 KLCCSac이 다녀왔습니다. 이 뜻깊은 자리에는 박은혜 센터장, 알렉사 최 이사장, 김현임 이사가 함께 참석했는데요, 특히 김현임 이사는 우리 새크라멘토 한국문화센터의 다양한 활동과 한글 교육을 위한 실질적인 지원 방안에 대해 대통령님께 직접 소중한 의견을 전달했습니다.
특별한 자리에 초대해 주신 샌프란시스코 총영사관 및 재외동포청 관계자분들께 진심으로 감사드립니다.

“이제는 여러분이 대한민국을 걱정하는 것이 아니라, 대한민국이 여러분을 걱정하고 도와드리는 나라를 만들겠습니다.”

🇰🇷 [Update] KLCCSac Attends the Presidential Town Hall Meeting in SF ✨
Over the weekend, KLCCSac attended a special Town Hall Meeting held in San Francisco during the visit of President Lee Jae Myung and First Lady Kim Hea Kyung! Representing KLCCSac, Executive Director Eunhae Park, Board President Alexa Choi, and Board member Christina Choilcote were honored to attend this meaningful event. Notably, Christina had the opportunity to directly share key insights with the President regarding the activities of the KLCCSac and practical support for next-generation Korean language education.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to the Consulate General of San Francisco and the Overseas Koreans Agency for inviting us to such a special occasion.

"Rather than you worrying about Korea, we will build a nation where Korea worries about and supports you."

Just like the warm message shared at the town hall meeting, we look forward to seeing greater interest and stronger support for our Korean language schools and the next generation of our Korean-American community! 🚀✨
