Shalom School Sacramento

The seniors in high school have been “sent off”! So great to see so many from Shalom School’s Class of 2020 back on campus!

Heading to the countryside (Davis, to be exact!), our kindergarten class was welcomed to the UC Davis Student Farm — a 23-acre organic farm dedicated to sustainable agriculture and food systems. Activities were curated by UC Davis students, and our class was split into groups for a chance to explore how farms work.

This included learning how plants, insects, and animals work together, and identifying herbs and flowers. Groups also took part in a scavenger hunt, tasted and voted for their favorite produce (veggies won!), fed chickens, and explored compost soils and the insects that help with decomposition.

Thank you to UC Davis and our chaperones for making the last field trip of the year one to remember!

Circle time is an important part of the morning at our preschool! Our teachers kick off every day with music, lively discussions, review of previous lessons, and even exercise. Being together and catching up lays the foundation for a strong community and early development — and students look forward to this daily ritual as a chance to connect with teachers and classmates, build social skills, and grow their language and comprehension.

No one should ever take their education for… granite. 🪨

We know our students love to rock and that’s why we were so thankful to have a hands-on experience with a local geologist in Pre-K Green. Students had the opportunity to discover different types of geodes, quartz and fossils, and the work that goes into studying the history of Earth. Thanks Geologist Michael for the visit!
