Sarah Haynes joins our Seminar Series on November 20 to discuss the challenges and risks facing adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes. Haynes, a UC Davis Health epidemiologist and health services researcher, will share the key components of a low-resource transition intervention for adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes.

Lower back pain is the leading cause of disability worldwide. Around 75-85% of Americans will experience back pain during their life and many will visit their doctor about it. Our new study tries to understand physician-patient communication strategies to reduce low-value, lower back spinal imaging.

The value of a negative result
Spinal imaging for back pain may not be needed, but patients might still ask for it. A program designed to help clinicians engage patients with back pain did not help reduce imaging rates.
