Consular Fellows serve on the front lines of a U.S. embassy or consulate protecting the interests of U.S. citizens abroad and ensuring U.S. border security. Consular Fellows work side by side with members of the Foreign Service playing a critical role in protecting U.S. national security. Requires exceptional English grammar and proficiency in Russian.
Working together with dedicated professionals, this public service opportunity provides valuable professional experience. Fellows will develop and apply a wide range of skills, from managing resources to conducting public outreach. The Consular Fellows Program is a temporary, limited career appointment of up to 5 years offering candidates a unique opportunity to serve their country, use their foreign language skills, and develop valuable skills and experience that will serve them well in their future professions. When hired, Consular Fellows will receive a bonus equal to 10% of their salary and may be eligible to participate in the U.S. Department of State’s Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP).
