VOCAL
Classes introduce and develop fundamental understanding
of the important concepts of Hindustani music such as sargam and
taala. Students develop and refine the raga in compositions with alaap and taan. Classes include the importance of both specific vocal techniques and emotional expression of the music.The importance of breathing, mental focus, posture and regular practice of alankars is stressed. SITAR
Beginning students are introduced to and develop an understanding for
basic strokes and techniques used in playing sitar. They are also introduced to the spoken tradition of sitar as they develop an understanding of the compositions. The importance of traditional
techniques, placement of fingers and posture is emphasized as students
develop their understanding and skill. Mental focus, posture and regular practice are stressed. TABLA
Classes introduce and develop understanding in Tabla stroke techniques,
and recitation of tabla bols, the spoken tradition of Tabla. Students
master the taala, rhythmic cycles, the laya, tempo, and develop clarity of sound. Students may study from introductory to professional levels. Intermediate and Advanced students are assessed and taught by the Guru based on their individual ability and needs. Please contact us for more information. Classes are conducted once or twice a week, half an hour and also one hour per class.
