We are immensely grateful to Hayward Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Angelo Stanton, Dr. Keith Harper - hospital owner, and the entire staff, for the extraordinary opportunity to observe pet surgery, interact with Dr. Harpers pet boa constrictor Eduardo, and gain insights into the journey of becoming a veterinarian!

We were given the added opportunity to visit the Urban Cowgirl Ranch with founder Brianna Noble, an avid horsewoman.

The chance to witness pet surgery up close was a truly eye-opening experience. Interacting with the boa constrictor, horses, cattle, and other farm animals was an adventure!

The wisdom shared by Dr. Stanton and Dr. Harper during our discussions provided invaluable insights into the path of becoming a veterinarian. Their passion for animal care and unwavering commitment to their profession left a lasting impression on us.

We are excited to share the incredible journey our students embarked on during the Prosthetics Summer Day Camp! The experience was nothing short of inspiring, and it wouldn't have been possible without the support of the LimbCare Foundation. A big THANK YOU to Laduan Smedley and team for hosting this enriching event!

Throughout the camp, our students delved into the world of prosthetics, discovering the cutting-edge technology and boundless potential to transform lives. From learning about the design process to interacting with amputees and professionals, they gained invaluable insights into this impactful field.

Thank you to our sponsors: Elevate Youth California/funded through Proposition 64, Kaiser Permanente Foundation, The South Sacramento Rotary Club, and UC Davis Medical.

We appreciate the opportunity to share our summer job shadow experience at The Rosetta Center for Counseling and Wellness, Inc., under the guidance of Dr. Tiffany Mimms, Clinical Psychologist, and her psychologist trainees staff!

Dr. Mimms and her team shared insights into various counseling approaches and mental health advocacy.

Dr. Mimms is also a team member of our Yes2Kollege Family Culture Coaching Alliance providing free mental health or substance abuse counseling services for Sacramento African American youth aged 12 - 26.

As we continue to champion mental health awareness and advocacy, we're grateful to have partners like The Rosetta Center in our corner, making a positive impact in the lives of our youth seeking mental wellness.

Doula Kairis Chaiji shares with the group how she supports mom’s emotional well-being during childbirth by creating a supportive space where every parent feels respected and heard.

A doula's primary mission is to be a strong advocate for the mom during labor and delivery. They are there to listen to her wishes, concerns, and fears, and they act as a bridge between the mom and the medical team, ensuring her birth plan is respected and followed.

The comfort level of the mom during childbirth plays a significant role in the birthing process. When a mom feels safe and supported, her body is more likely to release the hormones that facilitate labor progress. A doula's comforting touch, massage, and relaxation techniques can make a world of difference.
