Ready for School Tip #815

With less than a week before the start ofbthe new school year...it's time to get those internal (and external) clocks ready for enough sleep and waking up early. Get your alarm clocks ready!!!

It's a good time to start having students in bed early, and getting used to waking up early. REMEMBER...THIS YEAR, LAS PALMAS ELEMENTARY STARTS SCHOOL 30 MINUTES EARLIER THAN LAST YEAR. SCHOOL STARTS AT 8:15AM EVERY DAY. Breakfast will begin at 7:45am. SCHOOL WILL END AT 2:57PM (12:57PM ON WEDNESDAYS).

Students need at least 8 1/2 to 10 hours of sleep...and the younger they are, the more sleep they need to be ready and alert for school. Preschool to 2nd grade students should be in bed between 7:45pm and 8:00pm...since it might take a little while for them to actually fall asleep. 3rd to 4th graders should be in bed between 8:15pm and 8:30pm, and 5th and 6th graders should be in bed by about 9:00pm.

If you've been letting your student stay up later than those times during summer...it's a great idea to starting putting them to bed 5 to 10 minutes earlier each day between now and the start of school, since trying to drastucally change their bed time in one night will be too hard.

It's also a good idea to start getting them used to waking up by 7:15am so they are used to waking up in time to be at school ON TIME!!

And that advice about earlier to bed and earlier to rise...it goes for you parents as well! Don't be the reason your student arrives late to school. Help your student get to school early every day!!!

Ready for School Tip #2022

If you are reading this, then you obviously have Facebook...and if you have Facebook, then you must clearly have an email...and if you have an email, then there is no reason to not be registered and up to date on your Aeries Parent Portal.. right!?!?!

EVEN IF YOU ALREADY ARE REGISTERED ON THE PARENT PORTAL (OR HAVE THE APP ON YOUR PHONE.. YOU MUST UPDATE YOUR STUDENTS INFORMATION FOR THIS NEW SCHOOL YEAR!!!

If you want to know your child's teacher, be able to communicate with your child's teacher, see grades, see attendance, update medical history, update emergency contacts...and so much more...you need to register or log in and update your Aeries Parent Portal.

But wait!!! Read this before you click the link!!!
If you have the Aeries Parent Portal App on your phone...YOU STILL NEED TO ACCESS THE FULL ONLINE PORTAL TO UPDATE YOUR STUDENT'S INFORMATION...YOU CANNOT DO THAT FROM THE APP.

So if you have the app.. just log in, and then click the 3 dots on the bottom right labeled "More", then click on "Full Portal". This will take you to where you can update information for this year. Or...just click the link to go to the online version, where you can update as well. Remember to do this for every student in Twin Rivers!!!

Come on parents..stay connected, stay informed, and stay up to date.

Ready for School Tip #100

Don't be that student...remember that Las Palmas Elementary is all about uniforms. And to make it even easier, we have updated our uniform options:
White or navy blue shirt (with a collar) and navy, black, or khaki bottoms. Dark blue or black jeans are ok (those are the only jean colors that are).

Skirts ok...sweatpants not ok.
Shorts ok...sandals not ok.

HELLO summer vacation...wait!?!?! It's August already!?!?!

Thats right, the start of school is right around the corner. Don't forget, school starts Thursday, August 18th. And we have new school hours: School starts at 8:15am and ends at 2:57pm (12:57pm every Wednesday).

We want students to dress up like they are 100 years old!

Dont forget: Spirit Day is Friday, January 28th!

What is up Alebrijes!?!?! Our next Spirit Day is coming up on Wednesday, November 17th. What do you want to be when you grow up?!?!? Students can dress up for their future careers!

If students are not participating in Career Day Sprit Day, they must dress in our school uniform.

We hope all students participate and we can't wait to see all of our future doctors, lawyers, first responders, and other great careers!

Are you ready for August 17th?!?!
First Day of School!!! YAY!!!

We are so excited to bring every student back in person...but parents, please be aware that there is A LOT of things you need to know as you prepare for the first day...and beyond.

We could post it all here...but we recommend going to our website to see it All. It's already there. Plus, you can check out out calendar, other school info, and even more about Las Palmas Elementary!

Here's a sample of important things to know:

-class lists are no longer being posted online. Teachar and room info is on your child's Aerirs Parent Portal. You need to register OR update your child's information for this new school year before you can see who your child is with this year.

-Gates are locked until 8:00am. DON'T ARRIVE BEFORE 8:00AM!! The cafeteria is open for breakfast starting at 8:00am. But...PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE THE CAFETERIA!. If your child is eating breakfast at home, our school gates open at 8:25am.

-ALL STUDENTS MUST WEAR FACE COVERINGS! Parents are allowed to walk their child to their classroom ONLY ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. All adults must wear face coverings to enter our campus or our office.

-School starts at 8:45am and ends at 3:27pm (1:27pm every Wednesday). Parents will be allowed to enter our campus to pick up their student ONLY ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

-UNIFORMS ARE REQUIRED!

So, stay informed, go to our website, and BE PREPARED! Also, please be patient. It's been over a year for all of us since we had all students back. We are super excited, but help us make the start of the year be the best ever!
