🎉 Help Send Mark Twain 6th Graders to Science Camp — and Enter to Win a Custom Co****le Set! 🎉

Every year, Mark Twain Elementary 6th graders have the incredible opportunity to spend a week at science camp at Sly Park — an unforgettable experience filled with outdoor learning, science exploration, team-building, and lifelong memories.

In previous years, district funding covered the cost of this trip. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, families are now responsible for paying their own way. That’s where the Mark Twain PTA comes in! We’re raising funds to help make sure every student has the chance to attend.

What an incredible evening at our second annual Kids’ Culture Fest! Tonight was a wonderful opportunity to share, celebrate, and learn from the many cultures that make up our amazing Mark Twain community. From vibrant performances to community connection, every part of the event reflected the joy and diversity of our school.

A huge thank you to our incredible performers: Mark Twain’s Baile Folklórico group, bagpipes by Parent Advisor Amara Reddick, and Samoan dancing from Tali Nowicki. Our Familias de Bilingual group provided fun crafts and singing. And the Zunigas family provided incredibly delicious food, as always.

Thank you to our community partners who shared artifacts and resources with our families: SCUSD’s FACE and bilingual departments, Council member .guerra, and School Board Trustee April Ybarra .

And on this final day of Teacher Appreciation Week, an extra special thank you to our teachers for creating incredible raffle baskets and for giving so much of yourselves to our students every day.

This school is truly something special. Nights like these remind us how lucky we are to learn, grow, and celebrate together as one community.

Big news for our school community! 🎉

Tonight, Mark Twain PTA was awarded a grant from the Aggie Square Community Fund—and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead.

This summer, we’ll be bringing vibrant, large-scale murals to life across three exterior buildings on our 58th Street campus. Even more special, this project will be led by local artist Ryan Dominguez whose deep roots in our neighborhood will help ensure the artwork truly reflects our community.

This isn’t just about beautifying our campus—it’s about creating something meaningful together. Students and families will have the opportunity to share ideas and themes for the murals, and during the painting process, students will participate in hands-on learning experiences with the artist.

We envision these murals as lasting, community-designed works of art that celebrate who we are, strengthen neighborhood pride, and bring the same warmth, creativity, and color from inside our school out into the world.

A heartfelt thank you to UC Davis, Wexford Science & Technology, and the City of Sacramento for believing in our vision and investing in our students and community. 💚🐸

We can’t wait to see this project come to life!

This holiday was just made a little brighter! Many thanks to parent Juanita Nino and in Citrus Heights for donating Christmas trees to Mark Twain families this holiday season. Our multipurpose room is smelling like a winter wonderland! 🎄💚

These trees pictured have already been reserved, but there are plenty more still available for those in need. To reserve your tree, please call the front office at 916.395.4640 and provide your student’s name. The office will give you a paper slip that can be exchanged at Lowes in Citrus Heights for your free tree.
