🔥 I AM POWERFUL. I AM WORTHY. I AM FULLY ALIVE.

For too long, the Judge & Executioner inside me tried to decide who I was. They were born from pain—but I don’t live there anymore. Every setback, every rejection, every doubt…I RISE. Every. Single. Time.

This mantra has become my daily reset—a living, breathing declaration I read when I wake up and before I go to bed. It’s not about perfection. It’s about showing up, growing, and refusing to quit. 💪

Over the last two months, I’ve been working with a performance coach and mentors—doing the hard work of turning my reactions into responses. I’m not perfect, but I’m intentional. I live with discipline, focus, and emotional honesty.

And one day, I’ll hand this mantra to my son and hopefully my daughters. They might roll their eyes, but my hope is that they’ll discover what took me so long to learn: you are enough, and you are stronger than your struggles. ❤️

Maybe I can be the “best in the room” for you. Or maybe it’s time for you to look inward and meet the challenge yourself—to break free from the negative voices and step into the person you’re meant to be.

There’s a word for people who pull wisdom from many faiths, cultures, and traditions—it’s syncretic: blending truths from everywhere to live by the best of all. That’s how I see this journey: learning from the best to become my best.

Navigating Perceptions and Presence

In my day job with the state of California, I help teach a domestic violence informational course to various county agencies. It’s always a heavy topic, especially for those who’ve experienced domestic or intimate partner violence.

Recently, someone close to me made a comment: “Well, look at you — you’re 6’1” and 300 pounds. Who’s going to challenge you?”

The truth is, you’d be surprised. Smaller individuals can and often do challenge people my size. Because of my stature, I have to be extra mindful of my tone, body language, and overall presence.

The reality? I’m just a big ol’ teddy bear. But from the outside, I can come across as intimidating — and that’s something I never want to unintentionally project.

It’s a reminder that size and appearance don’t always tell the full story — and that kindness, patience, and awareness go a long way.

Today, I had a deep conversation about the complexities of domestic violence. We often think of domestic violence as physical abuse, but it’s so much more than that. Emotional manipulation, financial control, and psychological torment are just a few examples of the many forms of abuse that, sadly, can often be legal.

It’s heartbreaking that many don’t recognize they’re in a violent relationship until physical abuse occurs. Even more tragic is that it typically takes seven attempts to leave such a situation. The final attempt to escape is often the most dangerous time for an individual in an abusive relationship.

Understanding the full spectrum of abuse and supporting those trying to leave is crucial. Let’s spread awareness and provide the necessary support for those in need.

“Don’t be quick to be offended. Be quick to clarify.” This simple yet profound thought came up in a conversation with both a friend and a client recently. 🤔 It’s astonishing how quickly we jump to conclusions and let our emotions take the lead.
