“I’m just laying low right now.”

You might hear this when someone’s tired, overwhelmed…
😳 or a little embarrassed.

💬 To lay low = to stay quiet, avoid attention, or keep a low profile for a while.

It’s what people say when they don’t want to be noticed—after a mistake, during drama, or when they just need a break.

✨ It’s conversational,and super useful.

People are always surprised by some of my “unpopular” teacher opinions 👀

I’m not the grammar police. I don’t care about “perfect” TH sounds. And yes… I’ve never watched Friends (sorry…🤷🏻‍♀️).

The truth is, there’s no single “right” way to learn a language. It really isn’t an exact science. What matters is finding what actually keeps you interested and makes you want to keep going.

💬 Which of these do you agree with? Or do you have your own “unpopular opinion” about learning English?

“I’m all set.” 💛 English They Don’t Teach You – Pt. 8

A super common way to say:
✅ I don’t need anything else
✅ I’m finished
✅ I’m ready to go

You’ll hear it a lot in shops, cafés, and casual conversations.

It’s polite, final, and makes it easy to say “no thanks” without sounding cold.

💬 “Can I get you anything else?”
→ “Nope, I’m all set!”

You might also hear it as a question:
💬 “All set?”
= A gentle way of asking:

“Are you ready to pay?” or “Do you need anything else?”

✨ Easy, natural, and super useful in everyday life.

Save this one—you’ll definitely use it!

🫁 SOLO SPEAKING GAME #4: One Breath Challenge

Believe it or not, most language learners speak too fast—even if it feels slow to them.
Why? Because nerves = speed. 😰

This game can help you slow down—just by using your breath.

🎯 Talk about your day (or read something aloud).
🫢 One idea = one breath.
✋ Full stop. Then keep going.

Slowing down makes you easier to understand—and helps your brain catch up to your mouth.

💬 Try it and tell me how it went in the comments!

💛 English They Don’t Teach You – Pt. 7:
“Just a heads up…”

You’ll hear this often in casual English—but it’s not usually serious.

💬 A heads up = a quick notice or reminder before something small happens.

Think of it as giving someone a little time to prepare.

🧾 “Just a heads up—we’re starting a bit late.”
👟 “Heads up, it’s kind of muddy on the trail.”
💻 “Quick heads up—my Wi-Fi’s being weird today.”

It’s polite, casual, and shows you’re being thoughtful—without making a big deal.

Save this for the next time you want to give someone a friendly warning!

“Out and about” —- English They Don’t Teach You – Pt. 6

This is one of those casual English phrases that might not show up in your textbook—but it’s very usual in real life!

💬 It’s a friendly, vague way to say:
“I’m out, doing stuff, but I don’t want to list it all.”

✅Errands?
✅ A walk?
✅ Shopping?

It doesn’t matter—“out and about” fits it all and keeps it simple. You can use it when you want to sound relaxed, busy, or just… not at home.

Perfect for small talk and quick updates.

Save this if you like learning how people really talk.

“I’m good.” -
✨ English They Don’t Teach You – Pt. 5

You might know it as an answer to “How are you?”…

But did you know it’s also one of the most common, casual ways to say “No, thank you” in everyday English?

💡 Native speakers use this phrase all the time to politely turn something down:
“Do you want more?” → “I’m good.”
“Need help?” → “No, I’m good.”

🎯 Save this post if you’ve ever been confused by short, casual phrases like this—because there are a lot of them.

This game can help you:
✅ Talk about emotions in more detail

“In the meantime…”

You’ve probably heard this phrase before.
Yes, it means “between two events,” but in real everyday conversation, it’s often used to suggest what to do while waiting for something else.

🧠 It’s simple. Natural. And super useful.

🎯 Especially when you’re trying to sound polite and keep things moving!

👇 Drop a sentence using “in the meantime” in the comments!

“What are you gonna do?” can sound like a simple question…

But in real conversations, it can have two different meanings—and only one is actually asking for your plans.

💬 Native speakers say this phrase fast—sometimes like “whaddayagondo?”—and use it in moments of frustration or even empathy.

In this post, I’ll show you:
✔️ The literal meaning
✔️ The emotional meaning
✔️ How tone + body language change everything

👇 Tell me—have you ever heard someone say this? Did you know what they meant?
