Grammar and vocabulary are not the only things that affect how well people understand your English. Today: speed.
Talking fast doesn’t make you sound fluent. It just gives people less time to understand you.

Here’s why native speakers talk fast: they know the language very well, and the listener can already guess what they will say next. You may not have that yet (and that’s OK!) so speed won’t help you the same way.

Slow down. Not too slow… just calm and clear. It will feel strange at first. But people will understand you much better!

I’ve taught hundreds of English learners, and the ones who improve fastest aren’t the ones with the best grammar…they’re the ones who talk anyway and stay curious! Mistakes and all. So this is just a little reminder today: nobody became fluent by staying silent. #英単語

A lot of instagram English teachers say you don’t need more phrases to speak confidently…but then give you more phrases.
I get why. Phrases are easy to teach.

But if you’re freezing during conversations even after years of studying…more phrases aren’t the answer!
When you panic, you can’t access what you memorized. Your brain is too busy being scared.

The method I’m using (improv!) doesn’t give you more things to memorize. It trains your brain to keep going even when you panic. Even when you forget. Even when it’s not perfect.

That’s what this Sunday is about. Small group, Zoom, 90 minutes, $15.

You know the words. So why is speaking still so hard?

If you’ve ever frozen mid-conversation, spent the whole time in your head, or thought of the perfect thing to say... five minutes later — you’re not alone.

This workshop might be for you ;)

SPEAK

After 12 years of teaching English, this is the pattern I see most often…and it has nothing to do with vocabulary or grammar!

More on how to fix this coming soon!

“I’m just laying low right now.”

You might hear this when someone’s tired, overwhelmed…
😳 or a little embarrassed.

💬 To lay low = to stay quiet, avoid attention, or keep a low profile for a while.

It’s what people say when they don’t want to be noticed—after a mistake, during drama, or when they just need a break.

✨ It’s conversational,and super useful.
