ASSIST Daycare and Academy is looking for an amazing individual who has a passion to work with school age students. You'll be responsible for the direction and overall supervision of a group of school age children. You'll ensure the safety, involvement, and creativity of each individual in the group. Working cooperatively with staff to discuss and aid in the implementation of daily lesson plans in accordance with our proprietary curriculum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Arrives promptly at site for shifts- demonstrates regular, reliable attendance
Arrives to all site/company shifts and meetings in company compliant dress code
Monitors children during snack and meal times and perform clean up as required
Maintains line of sight for all children throughout the duration of shift
Conducts daily small-group activities for an assigned group of children, sharing responsibility for large-group activities and using appropriate adult/child interactions strategies with all children
Assumes responsibility for a classroom at any given time
Collects required anecdotes and information for required ongoing assessments
Observes and/or participate in parent-teacher conferences (as needed)
Provides coverage for breaks for other staff members
Supervises daily lunch and playground activities, field trips and walks
Promotes individualized attention for children by freeing teachers from routine duties
Provides care for children, such as setting schedules and routines, grooming, feeding, and cleaning rooms and toys daily
Follows check-in procedures for all students, such as Daily Health Assessment and ProCare use
Maintains a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues and reporting concerns to staff and parents
Helps children discover new interests by introducing them to art, music, sports, and other potential hobbies
Works with parents to help children progress towards educational and behavioral goals
Cleans, preps, sanitizes, maintains, and secures workspaces and community areas
Develops a safe and supportive environment for children that is welcoming and inviting
Demonstrates leadership, respect, and professionalism in all interactions
Maintains confidentiality and professionalism regarding information about staff, child, and volunteer matters
Attends and engages in staff development campaigns, projects and activities
Communicates daily in GroupMe messaging app
Performs other duties as assigned
Essential Physical Functions:
The incumbent must be able to talk and hear over the phone, walkie talkie, and in person. Extended standing and use of hands and fingers for work activities is required. The incumbent will occasionally stand, walk, run, reach, balance, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities may require driving, as well as close reading. Lifting and carrying is occasionally up to 50 pounds. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to wet conditions, cleaning chemicals, fumes, gasses, and odors. Information regarding hazardous chemicals in the workplace is available.
Essential Mental Functions:
The incumbent works in a busy environment with frequent interruptions and limited quiet time. The incumbent must sustain concentration, follow a set of procedures, and organize own work. Some of the work requires multitasking, quick de-escalations, and conflict resolution.
Requirements:
12 units in Child Development; Child, Family, & Community; and ECE Program and Curriculum with at least six months of experience working in a licensed child care center
OR
Meets Alternative Title 22 requirements per HSC § 1597.21
AND
Criminal Record Clearance
Mandated Reporter Training certificate
Health Screening and TB
Immunization records (MMR, Tdap, and flu)
Some knowledge of working with children with IEP or disabilities (Preferred)
