My training partner is exactly that ... my training partner ...here to prepare me, not hurt me.
“Nobody on the street will ask how hard they can hit you.”
CORRECT! But in training, we communicate.
➡️ We’re simulating an attack so we can practice responding not trying to injure each other.
In this video, we’re working on Fighting Stance Two, a defensive shield that helps protect the face and head from incoming strikes.
The purpose isn’t to prove how much punishment we can take. It’s to practice protecting ourselves and staying responsive when contact happens.
We communicate about intensity. Check in. Adjust. Stop when needed ... all within supervised safety limits.
Training doesn’t guarantee you won’t freeze, and freezing isn’t failure. Our goal is to build familiarity and practiced options: protect, breathe, move and look for an escape.
That’s resilience ... not a pain-tolerance contest.
