Auroville International USA
To support the projects and development inspired by the founding principles of Auroville The Auroville Charter
Auroville belongs to nobody in particular.
Auroville belongs to humanity as a whole. But, to live in Auroville, one must be a willing servitor of the divine consciousness. Auroville will be the place of an unending education, of constant progress, and a youth that never ages. Auroville wants to be the bridge between the past and the future. Taking advantage of all discoveries from without and from within, Auroville will boldly spring towar

We remember with gratitude Heidi Watts (1931–2026), a longtime supporter of AVI USA whose generosity helped sustain schools and after-school programs in Auroville.
Heidi devoted her life to education. Beginning with her first teaching position in Washington State in her early twenties, she went on to teach and mentor in many settings, including Vermont schools and Antioch University. Along the way she earned degrees from Pembroke, Harvard, and Cornell, and became a dedicated advocate for teachers and experiential learning inspired by John Dewey’s principle of “learning by doing.”
For two decades, Heidi contributed to the growth and transformation of education in Auroville, India—her adopted community—supporting initiatives that encouraged creativity, independence, and meaningful learning for young people.
Beyond her work in education, Heidi was deeply committed to peace and social justice. Throughout her life she spoke out for the causes she believed in, writing letters, supporting organizations, and showing up for peace even into her nineties.
Heidi loved nature, travel, and community. Whether walking in the hills of New England, birdwatching with friends, or spending summers on a remote island in Nova Scotia, she found connection in both people and the natural world.
Her generosity, courage, and lifelong dedication to education and peace touched many lives. We are deeply grateful for Heidi’s support and the impact she helped create for children and communities in Auroville.
She described a garden with five petals.
We can co-create the remaining petals together

"There is not one psychological perfection, but five," The Mother said.
"Like the five petals of this flower."
This is the Garden of Perfection at Matrimandir.

Or the Garden of Harmony — where every element finds its perfect, noble, powerful balance.
Three gardens. Three invitations to transformation.
$400,000 needed to complete them all.

A beautiful day at Mohanam with AVI USA's Binah Thillarajah and Matthew Andrews !
From the Kalari performers’ incredible talents to Raman and Meenakshi celebrating Tamil heritage through songs and stories, every moment was full of joy and meaning. Meenakshi also shared her new book, making Tamil culture accessible to the local community.
The kolams, flowers, and delicious traditional lunch made the place glow, and it was wonderful seeing everyone connect, meet new people, and share laughter. A truly heartwarming celebration of culture, community, and togetherness! 🌸
