Book 3 graduate!

Every graduation recital I’ve watched this student grow, and it never gets old. Yes, the technique is there, but what really lights me up is watching her light up. This book she dove into articulations, musical slides, vibrato, and characters that pushed her outside her comfort zone, and she didn’t just try them, she made them her own.

That’s the thing about this journey. The notes are just the beginning. Watching her musicality and personality blossom recital by recital is genuinely one of my favorite parts of this work.

So proud of you. I cannot wait to see what Book 4 holds!

Every Suzuki graduation tells a story, and this one is a story of steady dedication. 🎻

Watching this student reach her Book 2 graduation recital has been such a joy. This milestone didn’t happen overnight — it was built day by day, practice by practice, through the kind of consistency that turns effort into ease.

What I love most is seeing how she used her practice tools so faithfully over these many months. That patient, repeated work is exactly what gave her the confidence to truly own these pieces. And it shows: she’s finding a real comfort and stability in her position points, the kind of foundation that makes everything that comes next possible.

These aren’t just songs she can play — they’re songs she’s grown into. The musicianship, the focus, the trust in her own preparation… that confidence is irreplaceable, and it carries far beyond the violin.

Congratulations on your Book 2 graduation. I’m so proud of the musician — and the person — you’re becoming. 💚

Week one of Suzuki Summer Institute is almost in the books for a handful of lucky violinists from my studio.

I’m so grateful I got to be there, even briefly — to support my families, sharpen my own teaching through observation, and celebrate a very special honors recital performance. There’s something irreplaceable about watching students learn in this kind of immersive setting, surrounded by peers and teachers all moving toward the same thing.

I can’t wait to see how this week shapes these young musicians in the year ahead. And I’m already looking forward to the next institute some of my students will be attending later this summer.

🎻 Book 2 Graduate! 🎓

There are moments in teaching that remind you exactly why you do what you do — and this was one of them.

This incredible young musician just performed her Suzuki Book 2 graduation recital, playing every piece from the book in reverse order, by memory, with piano accompaniment. That’s no small feat — and she made it look joyful.

In our studio, a book graduation isn’t just a milestone. It’s a celebration of the process — of choosing to do one small thing with your instrument time and time again, of using all your tools, and of growing the relationship and support between student and practice partner. That commitment, day after day, is what builds a violinist.

And this student has lived that beautifully.

Her dedication, her love for her violin, and her pure excitement for everything that lies ahead is the kind of thing that makes me want to be the best teacher I can possibly be. I am so genuinely blessed to walk alongside her on this journey. 🌟

Here’s to Book 3 and beyond! 🎶
