Interested in learning more about the video and audio production? the mass communication department at Yuba College.

MCOMM 2 - Intro to Electronic Media. This class is a highly transferable and fully online class about the history and dynamics of different forms of media. The class is asynchronous and is a great class to get useful units for any major or transfer student. It is also an 8-week class that will help open up your schedule a little once the weather gets warmer.

MCOMM 4-14 Beginning Studio production/Studio Video Production. This class takes place in the Yuba College Studio and gives everyone hands on experience in live TV production. The studio is an exciting resource at the school and this semester the hope is to build a permanent news set.

MCOMM 6 - Beginning Audio Production - This class is focused mostly on audio production and how that relates to different forms of media production. This is considered one of the more enjoyable classes in the MCOMM department and since it is on a Friday it doesn't conflict with many other classes. Also, many students want a little more time working on software and this class allows for more time spent working in video and audio editing and learning those workflows. We make podcasts, radio interviews, radio plays, sound mixes and foley work.

MCOMM 17 - TV remote Production - This class is focused on taking the studio into the world. This class functions a little differently in that we cover events like sports and events that don't always take place during class time. This class involves a high degree of problem solving and real-world applications.

If you have any questions about any of these classes, please feel free to reach out to me at (916) 600-7029. Tell your friends!

Pumpkin Block 09/10/2022

Here is the winning film we made as part of the 48 hour film challenge. I told my students that no matter how silly our content got just fully commit to it. Our prop that was given to us was a pumpkin and we went all in on the pumpkin. Our theme was Far Away and Another Time which we used and our line that we had to include was "Uh oh... looks like somebody found a souvenir." Just for fun we included every other groups props which included a hammer, a ladle, a mug, Christmas lights, a mirror, and a skull. As you watch the film just keep in mind it was conceptualized, produced and completed in 48 hours. Not bad for 2 days.
