Introducing a new offering at The Ecology School - Homeschool Week! This is a unique opportunity to engage in exciting, hands-on scientific exploration outdoors.

Attendees will have an opportunity to connect with other homeschool families, learn outdoors together, and explore southern Maine at a beautiful time of year.

The four days will include community-building meals, outdoor lessons taught by trained educators, and downtime to explore, follow curiosities, and reset for more adventures.

📍 The Ecology School x Palmar Collective

The Ecology School at River Bend Farm & Palmar Collective recently teamed up for a morning of paddling on the S**o. While we floated along, we laughed, honed some major paddling skills, and kept an eye out for wildlife. A standout observation was watching a beautiful Great Blue Heron standing gracefully on the river bank.

There’s nothing like learning a new skill while staying connected to the ecosystem around you. Hearing “I wanna do this again” or “I love this” after a nervous start is exactly why we keep offering community events just like this one.

Our friends at Piper Shores recently came to The Ecology School for a visit and educational tour where we explored our upper campus as well as our riverside farm field. We love sharing this space and our work with folks. Thanks for coming! ☺️

Join us this Sunday, July 26th for Open Farm Day! This is a special opportunity to check out all your favorite farms. We will be offering two farm tours (11:30am & 1pm), Ag Allies will be leading a grassland bird walk at 10:30am, and our friends S**o Watershed Collaborative will be tabling so you can learn more about our local watershed.

Come join us at The Ecology School on Sunday July 26th for a Bird Walk and Talk from 10am to 2pm!!

Ag Allies will be leading a Bird Walk and Talk starting at 10:30am, with The S**o Watershed Collaborative providing information on Nature Based Solutions and Conservation within the Watershed, and The Ecology School hosting and open for tours & questions.

It’s Farm Friday! 🫶🏼

The summer harvests have been plentiful & some of the stars of the season, like tomatoes, dahlias, zucchini, berries, & more, are really starting to ramp up. The skies this week were an eerie, hazy orange due to wildfires in Canada & the Midwest—reminding us of the importance of the climate-smart farming we do here at River Bend Farm.

What an incredible two weeks of Summer Ecology Adventure Camp! 🎨🎉🌱

These past two weeks were filled with canoeing, farm field adventures, tide pool discoveries, hikes, and outdoor games. Campers even made watercolor paintings in the pollinator garden! A big thank you to campers, camper parents, our Ecology Educators, and all who made camp possible!
