kidz go eco Nature-Based, Reggio Inspired program, serving ages 3-5, since 2009 in the City of S**o, Maine. Welcome Families!

Our CULTURE for achievement is to create a NATURE school so welcoming, so inviting that every CHILD who walks through our doors has an amazing experience. Our facility is an NATURE BASED and REGGIO INSPIRED program. We create, design, connect, investigate, and explore beautiful ENVIRONMENTS where we provoke each child's interests. As eco-educators we thrive on helping each child practice good citizenship, CONSERVATION literacy, and KINDERGARTEN readiness. kidz go eco nature school has goals of the Early Childhood Curriculum which include developing self-esteem, motor skills, creativity, self-mastery, and autonomy; helping the child with gradual separation; and developing skills in language and communication, socialization, logical and sequential thinking, literacy, and mathematical concepts. As integral components of each Early Childhood classroom, learning centers offer developmentally appropriate opportunities for children to interact with each other, with materials, and with concepts and ideas. These centers include block building, nature tables, provocations, dramatic play, outdoor classrooms & investigations, science, STEAM, wildlife and botany identification, conservation, music, manipulatives, sensory motor, art, library, language arts, math and cooking. Large and small group activities also include story time, movement, music and library.

Welcome to our Annual Woodland Walk where we invite parents and family members to participate in our Woodland Walk! This is taking place on October 29, 2026 at 2:00!

Folks that would like to participate can dress up in a non-scary costume (preferably a butterfly, a mushroom, or a woodland type of animal) and our dressed-up Woodland Volunteers will find a place on the trails to pass out non-candy items to the children. This is one of our favorite events that we look forward to each year!

🌲🎃FAQS

🌲🎃My child does not attend that day, can they still participate in the woodland walk?

Yes! Children that do not attend on Thursdays are welcome to join us for the Woodland Walk! We just ask that an approved person listed in procare is at the school with them during the woodland walk.

🌲🎃 How many items to pass out/How many children will there be?
With some children coming that don't typically attend Thursdays, we expect around 40-45 children will be participating.

🌲🎃Can we hand out candy/food items?
No. We ask that folks only hand out non-candy and non-food items.
Some examples and things we've seen in the past for things to hand out are stickers, pencils, mini coloring books, play doh, small crafts and small halloween themed trinkets.

🌲🎃 Do parents/volunteers dress up?
Please! It is so fun to see everyone get creative and we love to see woodland animals, butterflies, mushrooms, fairies etc.

🌲🎃 When does the walk start?
Our goal is to have the children outside and ready to walk the trail as close to 2pm as possible, so if folks could arrive a few minutes before to find a spot on the trail that would be helpful!

🌲🎃Where does the walk happen?
We’ll begin at the Eco Avocado Trail and follow the marked with pumpkins! We ask our amazing volunteers to spread out along the trail and find a pumpkin trail marker to stand next to. Then after walk we all meet at the Bear Den & Robin Nest area after for apple c***r and toasted marshmallows!

🎃🌲Parking:
As many of our families know, our parking lot is small and fills up quickly. We encourage folks to carpool if possible and to pull in and fill up spaces by the staff parking first, and to use the street parking in the neighborhood across the street. Please use caution when crossing the street and in the parking lot!

🌲🎃Children can come to school in their costumes, please no scary costumes or ones with weapons. Please try to limit the amount of accessories and label all pieces of their costume. Sending them in with a bag or pail to collect their goodies during the woodland walk would be appreciated as well!

Hello from your friends in Nature 3!

This week, we explored bats, fall colors, shapes, and patterns through fun, hands-on activities! We practiced our scissor skills, created shapes with geoboards, explored color matching, and made predictions before counting the seeds inside apples and pumpkins. We also finished our classroom spider web, so be sure to peek inside and check out our wacky webs! We’re busy creating clay pumpkins, too, and can’t wait to share our finished creations with you next week!

Happy Friday from Nature 2!

This week, we started a dialogue on different ways animals start preparing for winter in the fall. Through the story, “Winter Survival: Animal Hibernation, Migration, and Adaptation” by L.R. Hanson, we discussed three winter survival techniques: Migration (leaving), Hibernation (sleeping), and Adaptation (staying & changing). We learned that certain birds, butterflies, and whales migrate to find warmer conditions, bears gather food and gear up to hibernate in their dens, bees hide together in their hives, and some rabbits and foxes prepare to turn white like snow!

A highlight of the week was painting our classroom’s pumpkin. We decorated the pumpkin in an array of colors, and it will soon be seen beautifully displayed on our porch! 🎃🎨

Happy Thursday from Nature 1! It was a short and rainy week but that made our time outside even more magical, giving us the opportunity to dance in the rain and explore some puddles on the trails! This week we began the first step in our “exploring and destroying” pumpkin project by using rubber bands to try and make our first pumpkin “pop”! The class used their prior knowledge of ways they’ve seen or experienced a pumpkin breaking and we’ll continue to test out their ideas in the next coming weeks to see what works and what doesn’t! Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you on Monday!

In Nature 3, we’ve been working on our scissor skills! The children started by rolling out Play-Doh and then using scissors to cut through the dough. This gave them a chance to practice opening and closing the scissors, figuring out how to hold them, and getting comfortable making their cuts.

After some practice with the Play-Doh we moved onto our pumpkin cutting sheets for the children to practice cutting along the lines.

These hands-on activities help strengthen find motor skills, build hand and eye coordination.

Today, our “bear cubs” are getting a bath and their noses lightened and cleaned! The maintenance, the care, and the heart poured into everything little detail is all part of maintaining our nature school. We hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

Hello from Nature 3!
We practiced counting and number recognition, explored their eyes, built robots, and experimented with letters and loose parts this week. We enjoyed conversations inspired by We’re Better Together, Pumpkin Soup, and The Color of Love, where we practiced teamwork, shared their ideas, and used their imaginations. We also learned how to properly care for our classroom books!

Reminder that kge will be closed this Monday, October 12, for Indigenous People’s day.
