Good morning, moms and dads. â¤ď¸
I just had the most wonderful visit from Casey and sweet Theo, who had the very important job of delivering something from all of youâand Iâm sitting here afterward honestly a little overwhelmed and at a loss for words.
Apparently, my wonderful For Kids Only families have been busy behind the scenes, coming together to create the most thoughtful, sweet, kind, generousâand downright FUNNYâânew hipâ care package for me. And knowing that this came from all of you makes it even more special.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am an âitâs all in the detailsâ kind of girl, and oh my goodness, did you ever think of the details!
From the bag, to the card, to the sticker, to the hilarious bag that said, âNever underestimate a woman with a new hip,â I was already laughing before I even got to everything inside. đâ¤ď¸
And then I just kept pulling things out!
MadeGood organic granola bitesâwhich you obviously know I love because I love anything MadeGoodâdark chocolate-covered mini pretzels, the cutest checkered Owala leak-proof drink container, hand and cuticle repairing buttercream with retinol, and even a little âHip Hip Hoorayâ bag with a walker making its way down the road to recovery. đ
It was thoughtful. It was funny. It was incredibly generous. It was personal. And most of all, it made me feel so very loved.
But as wonderful as every single gift is, what touched me the most wasnât what was inside the bags.
It was all of you behind them.
Knowing that my preschool families came together, contributed, planned, shopped, thought about the little things I would enjoy, what would make me laugh, what I could use during my recoveryâand then sent Casey and Theo off to surprise me with all of itâabsolutely touched my heart.
There really arenât adequate words for that kind of kindness.
For so many years, I have had the privilege of loving and caring for other peopleâs children and welcoming their families into our little preschool world. Somewhere along the way, though, something pretty special happened. It stopped feeling like simply a preschool filled with children, parents and teachers and became this beautiful little community of people who genuinely care about one another.
And today, I got to be on the receiving end of that love.
There is something incredibly humbling about realizing that the families whose children you love so dearly also care about you. I donât ever take that for granted.
Casey and Theo, thank you for being my very special delivery team this morning and for getting my day started with such a wonderful surprise. â¤ď¸
And to every single one of you who had a hand in this, thank you from the very bottom of my heart. Thank you for your generosity. Thank you for the laughter. Thank you for every thoughtful little detail. But more than anything, thank you for the love behind all of it.
I may be the one heading into surgery for a new hip, but this morning itâs my heart that feels especially full. â¤ď¸
I have always believed that what we do at For Kids Only is about so much more than preschool. We celebrate together, worry together, laugh together, help one another, watch these precious little people grow togetherâand apparently, when one of us needs a new hip, we make sure she heads into it very well supplied! đâ¤ď¸
We came together because of the children, but somewhere along the way, we became a family.
I donât know how I got so lucky to have all of you, but please know that I will carry the love behind this beautiful gesture with me into surgery on Monday and throughout my recovery.
From one very overwhelmed, very grateful, slightly teary-eyedâand soon-to-be bionicâMiss JericeâŚ
Thank you. I love and appreciate you all more than you know. â¤ď¸
