The Sackets Harbor Central School District is offering a surplus wheelchair school bus for public sale via sealed competitive bid. Bids are due by 8/19/26 at 2pm at the school’s District Office. The minimum bid is $7,000 and the vehicle is sold "as is." Inspection is available on August 11th and 13th 2026 from 12:30pm to 2pm in front of the bus garage at Sackets Harbor Central School.

Mileage / Condition: 96,579 miles/in working order with very slight damage on right rear
Minimum Bid: $7,000
Sale Terms: Sold "as is, where is" with no warranty expressed or implied

Bid Submission Rules

Deadline: Sealed bids must arrive by August 19, 2026 at 2pm
Delivery Address: Submit to the Sackets Harbor Central School District, Attn: Audrey Stevenson, 215 South Broad Street, Sackets Harbor, NY 13685
Mark Envelope: Clearly write "Sealed Bid - Surplus Bus" on the outside of the envelope
Requirements: Include your full name, phone number, address, and your bid price


Award and Pickup

Opening: Bids will be opened publicly on 8/19/26 at 2pm at the school in the MPR.
Payment: The winning bidder must pay via cashier's check or money order within 5 business days of notification
Removal: The buyer must remove the vehicle within 10 days of payment

This is what community collaboration looks like!

As SHCS works to complete our capital project and prepare our building and grounds for the return of students and staff later this month, we reached out to our community partners for assistance. Without hesitation, the Town of Hounsfield and the Village of Sackets Harbor stepped in to help.

We are so very fortunate to be part of a community that consistently comes together to support our school. We would like to share our sincere appreciation to both municipalities for their partnership, generosity, and continued support of SHCS!

~In Loving Memory of Finnegan~

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dedicated therapy dog, Finnegan who left us on August 3rd, 2026 at the age of 9. For the last 6 years, Finn had the opportunity to bring endless joy, comfort, healing and happiness to the Sackets Harbor school community. He could often be found in the hallways of our school waiting for a pat on the head, upside down for a belly rub or in a classroom snuggled up near someone that he just felt needed some love. Finn also had the joy of being a part of the girls JV soccer teams for all 9 years of his life whether it was by stealing cones (opposing team’s as well as our own), laying down in the middle of a drill to give his friends a break, supporting players from the sidelines or giving kisses during warmups.

We know Finnegan held a special place in many of your hearts. Thank you for loving him as much as we did.

Sackets Harbor Central School District is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to join our Buildings and Grounds team. This is a full-time, 12-month position with hours of 2:00–10:30 p.m. during the school year and daytime hours during the summer. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our cleaning team to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors.

Interested candidates should submit a completed application to the District Office by August 14. Applications are available on the District website or may be picked up at SHCSD.
