Following the creation of the Sierra Leone-Gullah Heritage Association in 2006, Amadu Massally, the founder, has developed strong relationships with Gullahs and DNA Sierra Leoneans who press for a visit to Sierra Leone. Encouraged by the responses and excitement from these people, FTT was borne out of the need to reconnect many African Americans with their ancestral homeland โ Sierra Leone. The business will operate primarily in both Sierra Leone and the United States, but will later target descendants of Sierra Leone who are in Jamaica, Grenada and elsewhere for future expansion. This business will help African Americans and others of Sierra Leone descent gain some sense of self-identity and have an opportunity to reconnect to their ancestral land. This will also enable Sierra Leone and her people to benefit from tourism revenue, which will also positively impact other aspects of our Sierra Leonean lives with regard to business opportunities in arts and crafts, clothing, eateries and restaurants, services like braiding, etc. The business will commence operation in the Western Area and then propagate to other areas of Sierra Leone. FTT is poised to take advantage of the growth in the national tourism industry with competent, dedicated and experienced staff, excellent networking, effective management and marketing. By introducing, pre-arranged tours, client-led custom packages, travel consultations and hotel reservations, FTT seeks to distinguish itself as arguably, the premier roots, culture adventure and eco-tour operator in Sierra Leone. Our services will be of extremely high quality, informative, tailored to the clientโs needs, and positioned carefully to develop a sustainable competitive advantage in the industry.
