tted to excellence in the education of students of diverse educational and cultural backgrounds preparing them to enter an ever changing health care environment as competent practitioners of nursing. This educational environment:

Fosters critical thinking

Is achieved through interaction of faculty with students

Is responsive to community needs

Is cognizant of regional and national trends in health care delivery

Recognizes its responsibility for research and scholarly activity, and service. Nursing education uses professional education and practice guidelines from the NLNAC Standards and Criteria for AD Nurses, Quality & Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Competencies, and National Patient Safety Goals.

3. The student is an active participant in the learning process

4. Nursing education is best initiated in institutions of higher learning

5. Commitment to lifelong learning is integrated into the practice of nursing.

6. Nursing practice is directed toward identification of and meeting the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals within their community.

Brittany showcased innovative teaching strategies designed to strengthen nursing student success and practice readiness through the following presentations:
🔹 Simulation as a Compass for Practice Readiness: Navigating Delegation, Prioritization, and Distraction Management
This poster highlighted the use of simulation to help students develop critical decision-making skills needed in today's complex healthcare environments.
🔹 Leading and Managing: An Interactive Pedagogy to Optimize Student Success
This presentation explored engaging teaching approaches that enhance leadership and management competencies while supporting positive student outcomes.

A special congratulations to our alumni, Jamin and Carly Rankin, who presented together during the conference. Their collaboration and professional accomplishments are a wonderful reflection of the excellence, leadership, and dedication fostered within our nursing program.

We had a fantastic day in the Justin and Jeanette Hinckley Virtual Anatomy Lab on Louisiana Tech’s campus with students participating in the Jackson Parish AHEC program!
Jackson Parish AHEC programs, operated regionally by Central Louisiana AHEC and Bayou North AHEC, give high school students the opportunity to explore medical careers through hands-on learning experiences. During their visit to the nursing skills lab, students practiced CPR, discussed shaken baby prevention, learned about injections, and explored human anatomy using the Anatomage table in the Virtual Anatomy Lab.
Experiences like these help inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals by allowing them to see, touch, and experience what a future in healthcare can look like. We are proud to partner in providing meaningful career exploration opportunities for our local students!
