We welcomed Cookie and Angel, two adorable ponies from Promise Ranch, to chapel this week! 🐴 Our students learned that in the same way sheep (and ponies ‍🤷‍♀️) know their shepherd's voice, we can hear God's voice, too. Jesus is our Good Shepherd - the way, the truth, and the life. Thank you to Promise Ranch for visiting our chapel this month!!

History comes to life at Onward! 📜✨

Our students recently showcased their knowledge and hard work at the History Fair, where each student researched a major Revolutionary War battle or figure and created their own presentations. They confidently shared what they’d learned with visiting adults - demonstrating not only their historical knowledge but also growing maturity and poise.

Just before the fair, students completed a 3-week study of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the other amendments, deepening their understanding of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. Each student then signed a personal pledge to uphold and defend the Constitution - and got to take a copy home as a keepsake!

There’s nothing sweeter than young authors sharing their stories. 📚✨

Our fifth graders recently completed a special language arts project—writing and illustrating their very own children’s books. After weeks of hard work, they shared their finished stories with our kindergarten and first grade students.

There were lots of smiles, giggles, and wide eyes as the younger students listened and flipped through the colorful pages. Our fifth graders did a wonderful job reading their stories and showing the younger students what it looks like to be a real author.

Moments like these remind us that learning grows when students share it with one another. We’re so proud of our fifth grade authors! 💛

Our high school students recently had the opportunity to serve at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lynchburg as part of their Read-a-Thon / Serve-a-Thon—and it was a joy from start to finish.

From reading together to playing games and spending time with the kids, our students experienced firsthand what it means to serve others with generosity and joy.

We’re proud of these young leaders and grateful for organizations like the Boys & Girls Club who welcome our students into their community. 💙
