FFA Member Spotlight: Allissa Vopat
My name is Allissa Vopat, and I am a senior at Russell High School. I am currently serving as our 2026–2027 STUCO Representative and am entering my second year in FFA!
When I first considered joining FFA, my main thought was simply, “I want to get out of school.” I was unsure if FFA was really for me, but with the encouragement and support of Mrs. Pfeifer, I decided to give it a try. Since then, FFA has become so much more than I ever expected. I have developed a true passion for FFA and have found a place where I always have something or someone to turn to when I need support.
If I had to describe my FFA experience in three words, they would be Growth, Self-Improvement, and Fun. Some of my favorite SAE and FFA experiences have included Kiddy Barnyard, Veterinary Science, Leader Lab, Food Science, Farm Safety Day, National Convention, and many more!
Outside of FFA, I love working as a CNA and having the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives. I also enjoy going on horse rides and spending time with my family and friends.
With the support and encouragement of Mrs. Pfeifer, I have also decided to apply for the Registered Nursing Program at NCK Tech in Hays, which is an exciting next step for me after high school.
My advice to an incoming freshman:
“Try things out and figure out what you like and don't like, then dive headfirst into that subject.”
Before I graduate, one of my biggest goals is to slow down and enjoy the moment a little more. I feel like I am always running 100 mph, so finding a little time to slow down, enjoy the people around me, and appreciate everything I've been able to experience is something I hope to do during my senior year.
FFA has given me opportunities to grow, learn, step outside my comfort zone, and discover things I never expected. I am excited to see where this last year takes me!
