NJROTC conducted a colorguard last night for the home football game. It was the first time that I know of in our units history that we have conducted a six person colorguard. It was awesome teamwork and very well executed a job Well done, thank you for your support. Parking support team also did a wonderful job with communication and keeping things in order.

Next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (July 29, 30, & 31) we will be having a marksmanship camp at our NJROTC rifle range. This is for any current or incoming cadet interested in participating on our rifle team. You must be enrolled in NJROTC to participate throughout the school year but we encourage any RCHS student or RCMS 8th grader that would like to learn more about the program to come by and see what it is all about next week. We will meet in the NJROTC classroom at 0800 on July 29th. Hope to see you all there!

Leadership camp starts tomorrow, Monday 6/22/2026. It will run 0800-1200 each day through Friday. This is geared towards introducing new incoming cadets to the program. Meet the staff and learn the ins and outs of what all our unit and program has to offer.

Last Thursday Laker Company travelled to Cincinnati to watch the Reds take on the San Francisco Giants thanks to a generous donation from the Reds. For most of our cadets, this was their first time attending a major league baseball game. It was a well deserved outing celebrating our achievements and hard work throughout the year. On Friday, we travelled to Columbia to visit with veterans at the VFW. We enjoyed hearing their stories and getting to know them.

Today was our annual AMI (Area Manager's Inspection). This is when our area manager visits our school to review our program. This gives the cadets an opportunity to showcase skills that they have learned throughout the year, and it also gives the cadet leaders of the unit a chance to present the unit's accomplishments and goals for next year. The cadets did a phenomenal job today and their hard work and effort was evident to everyone in attendance. Special thank you to the members of the Russell County Laker Band saxophone quartet for playing the National Anthem for our presentation and to Retired Army Colonel Betts for being our guest speaker. Thank you to the school board, administration, and families for all of your support and encouragement. Excellent job cadets! We are very proud of you Laker Company!
