Safety Week at RCS may have come to an end, but we are always so thankful to our Community Safety Partners!

10/09/2026

This week’s chapel on Wednesday opened with a wonderful time of worship led by our student choir and Mr. O’Neill.

Students then presented a skit, “Missed Opportunity”, reminding us how often we overlook chances to share the hope of the Gospel with those around us. The skit challenged everyone to be intentional in recognizing everyday opportunities to point others to Christ.

Mr. Tippins brought the chapel message, focusing on the life-changing power of God's grace and redemption. Through the story of David Berkowitz ("Son of Sam"), students were reminded that no one is beyond the reach of Christ's forgiveness and transforming power. No sin is too great, no past too broken, and no life too far gone for God to redeem.

Drawing from John 5, Mr. Tippins challenged students with Jesus' question: “Do you want to be made whole?” While Christ has already provided the remedy for sin, each person must decide whether they are willing to trust Him and allow Him to transform their life.

We were also encouraged by RCS student Connor's testimony as he shared how coming to RCS exposed him to the truth of the Gospel and ultimately led him to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He spoke about coming to the saving knowledge of Christ and learning that salvation is by grace through faith alone, not by works, but through God's gift of redemption.

What a blessing to see students worshiping, serving, sharing their testimonies, and encouraging one another in their faith. God's grace is greater than our failures, His redemption is available to all, and every believer has an opportunity to share the hope found in Christ.

🚓🚒🇺🇸 A Blessed Safety Week at Ruskin Christian School! 🇺🇸🚒🇺🇸

"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you." Numbers 6:24-25

This week, our students were blessed to learn from the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving others. We are so thankful for each guest who took time to invest in our students and share how they make a difference in our community while living out lives of service.

📆 Tuesday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office visited our campus with their patrol cruiser and spoke with students about the important role law enforcement plays in keeping our community safe. Thank you for your commitment to protecting and serving our families!

🗓️ Wednesday, we welcomed two incredible RCS parents, Joshua Martinez and Shane Garvey.

Mr. Martinez shared about his many roles of service:
• MSgt, USAF, Section Chief, CATM, 927th Security Forces Squadron
• FF/Medic Driver/Engineer, South Pasadena Fire Department
• Owner/Operator, Precision Arboristry Services LLC

He also spent time with our secondary students who are interested in military service, sharing how the military and reserves have positively shaped his personal, spiritual, and professional life.

Firefighter/Paramedic Shane Garvey shared with our students about his incredible 16-year career in the fire service. Now serving on a ladder truck, he even beat the 60-second challenge to fully gear up, much to the excitement of our students!

📅 Thursday, we welcomed Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Engine 17 to campus. Students loved exploring the fire truck, asking questions, and learning about fire safety. And yes, it was definitely Mrs. Tallon's favorite day of the week! 🚒❤️

🗓 Friday, another wonderful RCS parent & FBCR Deacon, Deputy Jones, shared about his work as a corrections deputy and the important role he plays in keeping our community safe. He encouraged our students to practice obedience to authority, make wise choices, and most importantly, walk with Christ in all things.

As a school and church ministry, we are grateful for these examples of courage, sacrifice, leadership, and faith. Thank you to all who participated in Safety Week and showed our students what it means to serve others with excellence and integrity.

Please join us in praying for all law enforcement officers, firefighters, military personnel, first responders, and public servants who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe each day.

💙 Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your faithful example. 💙

Secondary Chapel Recap

Today’s Secondary Chapel was led by Mr. Farrell, with a wonderful performance by our Student Choir and the opening prayer led by student Carter Todd.

Sometimes we feel close to God, and sometimes we don’t. But our feelings and circumstances change….God does not.

Today’s message reminded us that even when God feels distant, He is still present, still loves us, and is still at work in our lives.

We looked at examples from Scripture:

David felt forgotten.
Joseph experienced betrayal and hardship.
Elijah grew weary and discouraged.

Yet through each situation, God never left them.

Three important truths to remember:

🙏 God is with me.
💙 God loves me.
🙌 God is working even when I can’t see it.

When life feels uncertain, keep praying, keep seeking God through His Word, stay connected to other believers, and keep trusting Him.

God’s silence does not mean God’s absence.

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8
