There’s just something special about Sundays like this. ❤️
We started our day worshiping at Trail to Christ Cowboy Church, soaking in God’s goodness and the reminder of how faithful He has been to our family. Then we came home, rolled up our sleeves, and spent the afternoon in the kitchen together making cultured butter — over 5 pounds of beautiful golden butter from the milk God has blessed our farm with.

Moments like these make my heart so full. The simple things — working side by side, creating food with our hands, and building this life together — are blessings I never want to take for granted. 🧈🐄

Now it’s on to fresh mozzarella and a little creamy cottage cheese. Thank you, Lord, for providing for our family and allowing us to share it with others.

And thank YOU to everyone who supports our little family farm. We are so grateful for each order, every kind word, and every family who lets us deliver fresh milk and homemade goodies right to their doorstep every Monday and Thursday. ❤️

Oh my! Legg Creek Farm has paw paw trees!

I’ve never seen pawpaws this big this early in the year! These are on a seedling-grown tree growing in partial shade with a decent amount of early day sunlight.

This is your friendly reminder to plant some “plant it once” garden favorites in your yard. Right now while I’m waiting on my tomatoes and corn to ripen and I’m working hard to keep everything watered and the weeds at bay, it’s nice to have a few less needy plants. These are the ones I have every season, care for throughout the year, but are established garden foods. They may be a plant or tree I harvest from every year or an herb that reseeds itself and comes back all on its own when it knows the weather is just right- green onions, oregano, rosemary, mint, berry bushes like blueberries and blackberries, fruit trees, and vines like grapes and kiwi. Even herbs like basil and cilantro often reseed themselves and surprise you the next season if you let a few plants go to seed.

These kinds of plants slowly turn a garden into a living pantry.

If you’re starting a garden, consider adding a few perennial or self-seeding plants each season. Future you will be so thankful every spring when they begin popping back up on their own.

We purchased almost all our fruit trees from Legg Creek Farm. They are reliable and know what grows in our east Texas weather.

Some baby pears doing alright here in East Texas. I know a lot of people - us included! - lost a ton of blooms and baby fruit during that late March freeze. We got down to 28° and stayed that way for a few hours.

A few of the light blooming plants, like this pear tree, avoided the worst of it.

So what baby fruit are you seeing on your trees? 🍐 🍏 🍑
