Summer Memories 🌞💛

Yesterday was the last unofficial day of our School-Aged Summer Club! Most of our kids will still be with us for after-school care, but some of them spend their summers with us and will be heading back to their regular routines now.

What a summer it has been! We made so many memories, grew friendships, explored, laughed, played and, of course, traded a bazillion Pokémon cards. 😂

I don’t want summer to end, but I also know the teachers need their kiddos back. 😉

To our amazing grown ups : thank you for trusting us with your children and allowing us to spend the summer with them. It truly means so much to us.

And to our kids: thank you for being exactly who you are. ❤️ You brought so much fun, laughter, and personality to our days, and I’m definitely going to miss having you around all day, every day. 😭

A huge THANK YOU to all the amazing customers who supported Puddle Jumpers Lemonade LLC this morning! 🍋💰

The kids are officially hooked and absolutely passionate about their little business. Of course we also have to do our part and put those hard earned dollars back into the economy, right? 😉

So off we went on a little treasure hunt, stopping at This 'N' That to treat ourselves to what may have been an excessive amount of Pokémon cards.

Entrepreneurship, budgeting, supporting local businesses… and Pokémon. Sounds like a pretty successful business lesson to me! 🍋✨

8:00 AM at Puddle Jumpers Daycare…

“Can we have a lemonade stand, pleeeeease?” 🍋
“Please, Ronja! Let’s sell lemonade!”
“Pleeeease?”

With every set of puppy eyes locked on me, I knew that if I said no, I would be hearing those same questions all day long. 😅

So, off to the store we went to grab lemonade, cookies, chips, and everything else they needed to get their little business up and running.

They’re still deciding on a business name… but they are officially open for business! 💛👏🍋

On Friday we took our big kids on a trip to the zoo, and what an amazing day it was! ❤️

Our adventure started with feeding the giraffes, where the kids got to ask questions, get up close, and learn all about these incredible animals. We spent the morning exploring the zoo before enjoying a picnic lunch together.

After lunch, we met an Animal Ambassador who introduced us to two fascinating creatures. A giant gecko named Goliath and a tomato frog named Button. The kids loved seeing them up close and learning all kinds of fun facts!

Since we still had some time left in the day, we headed over to Oak Park. The kids ran around the playground, cooled off in the splash pad, and, to top it all off, Jeffrey from Pizza Hut surprised us by finding us at the park and delivering a second lunch! 🍕 What a fun treat!

At the end of the day, I asked the kids what their favorite part was. I expected to hear “feeding the giraffes” or “seeing the gecko,” and those were definitely popular answers. But the response I heard the most was:

“Spending the special day with my friends.” 🥹❤️

Those are the moments that remind us what these adventures are really about. It’s making memories, building friendships, and simply enjoying being kids together. We couldn’t have asked for a better day! 🦒🌿✨

Lots of exciting things happened this week, so I’ll be catching you up over the next few days. But today, I want to take a moment to recognize someone very special.

Mya ❤️

This summer, Mya was an incredible part of our team. She spent most of her time loving on our babies, but she also jumped in wherever she was needed with the toddlers and our big kids.

Today, we had to say goodbye as she heads off to Bismarck for a new chapter. While we’re so excited for everything ahead of her, letting her go was definitely bittersweet. It only took about 146 hugs before she finally made it out the door. ❤️

Mya, thank you for being kind, dependable, motivated, and always willing to help. You made such a difference in the lives of our children, and you made this summer so much brighter for our team. You’ll leave a hole that’s impossible to fill, but you’ll also leave us with so many wonderful memories.

Thank you, Mya. We’ll miss you so much.

As if one goodbye wasn’t enough, today was also the day we released our butterflies. After watching them grow from tiny caterpillars into beautiful butterflies, it was finally time to let them spread their wings and explore the world. Every butterfly we see now will make us wonder… “Could that be one of ours?” 🦋

So today isn’t really about saying goodbye.

It’s about saying, “See you later, Mya… and see you later, butterflies.” ❤️🦋

We had the pleasure of making a new friend yesterday! Our big kids had the opportunity to visit Mary at The Commons - Rugby and what an incredible experience it was!

I knew they were going to have a great time, but when they came back excitedly sharing stories about all the fun activities, proudly showing off their amazing masks, and I got to watch the video of them dancing, I realized it was even better than I had imagined.

A huge thank you to Mary for welcoming our crew with such kindness and for creating such a special place for our community to gather, create, and learn. We can’t wait to come back! ❤️
